What will it realistically take for the Rockets to rid themselves of Anderson?

Anderson for Melo, only if Melo declines his last year option like ty Lawson.

If not, then save him to trade in the off-season when we go after Lebron.

Rockets best bet right now will be buyout market.

    as a Rocket .421 fg% / .397 3pt% / .472 2p%
    career .423 fg% / .381 3pt% / .470 2P%

That slump lasted the second half of the season last year and playoffs. I'd call that a bit more of a slump. more like a landslide lol.

I really dislike Melo.... I refused to be gifted him in fantasy. That's how much I dislike him.

If we wait long enough... nothing he will become an asset for other teams trying to clean their roster of dead cap space.

To move him this moment is impossible without taking anything back even more toxic contact and less of a fit for our team.

    To answer the post
    Capela’s rights & an unprecedented FUTURE 1st.

I've already suggested Capela, a 1st, and Anderson for DeAndre Jordan. Basically the Clippers would be taking on Anderson's contract for that 1st plus the right to match on Capela.

Well, if we don't have to give up Ariza and Clint, along with half the bench to get him the I will be one happy camper if we do!!

I dont see Ryan as being horrible as a player. Everyone has blinders on bc of what he makes. I agree he is over paid but not by much within the context of the CBA and market conditions during that time. Find me a player that was signed at the same time as Andersen that has had the same impact on spacing and shoots well and as much at a lower cost?

He is a perfect fit on this team, he doesn't require to hold on to the ball, him being on the court is enough for defenders to stay on him. His Defense was good at the beginning of the year, at one point ppl were only 29% on ISO against him. What other player out on the market is a better fit?

I would've like to see this team playing with a guy with different skills than Ryan, like Tucker, as a starter to see if/what would've been different.

With that said, there're plenty of better fits, just because he's a great shooter (even though we should consider he has problems at Toyota Center since it's an important thing) doesn't mean you can't upgrade, there's a reason why Morey went after Horford before Anderson, he would've played a lot of 5 here, but he could've also play the 4 next to Capela, and the fact that Anderson was still a plan B shows that the Rockets weren't exactly desperate to get a stretch 4, at least not at 20M per year...and i mean, the season before we did just fine playing with D.Mo and Josh Smith at the 4, ended up with the second best record in the league, without a coach, in a season with plenty of injuries and we went to the conference finals.

Talking about better fits, i just wonder why we didn't go after Millsap last summer, maybe we tried to sign & trade for him but Atlanta had no interest in Anderson (which would make sense btw), maybe we were already after (and confident about it) Melo, maybe we just let that option go to keep the door open for Lebron in 2018...maybe more than one of these things is true, but looked a bit odd to me at the time there wasn't a single hint about the Rockets going after him.

I agree with what you are saying but it doesnt answer the question. At the time of signing Anderson, what other player was available that would have fit well with this team. The problem i see with this thread and others like it, is people are judging from a perception that all the other options were available. What players were available at at the time that could have achieved the same thing? what amount did they sign for?
Shoot JJRedick got 25M for one season from Philly.

Regarding Dmo and Jsmoove, i like them booth as a player but they are not where near the impact that Ryan has on keeping the lane open/Shooting 4 ft behind the line, shooting 39% from 3's on that many attempts.

Yeah, i can't really remember right now outside of Marvin Wiliiams (even though i kinda remember reading he had a deal in place to come back to Charlotte) similar players.

My idea on that situation is that after Horford decided to sign with Boston, since we were coming out from a terrible season/situation, Les pushed hard to sign Anderson regardless of the contract just to give the best team possible to MDA instead of keep going on with great flexibility etc. As i said other times, i just cannot see a guy like Morey giving Anderson that contract by himself.

As for those players yeah, not the same shooters as Ryan, but they were better in everything else, better defenders, rebounders, passers, scorers...and that's the point in the end, it's ok to have a great shooter at the 4, but there're so many other things that are also as valuable as shooting, if not more. That's probably why as today you basically won't find a "mere" (pass me the term) stretch 4 starting in this league, of all the teams that don't play with two bigs, most of them are literally playing a 3 at the 4, and a 4 at the 5 (which is what Anderson can't really do most of times) whenever they go small.

This isnt a bad deal IF, we can get a bought out Melo... or someone else to fill that 4 role.

Even though Anderson is garbage juice, he fits the mold at that spot, burlyyyyyyy

I don't even mind Anderson's bricks as much as I mind him passing up open looks. CAN'T BE DOING THAT, SON.
