What did you think adversity would look like?

We all knew it was coming. Our win % for historically high (out of wack) for a good bit and we were going to crash back to earth. We have always known that there would be rough patches with adversity. Here it is. Will this be the worst stretch of the year?

It is still discouraging and concerning to me that we could lose 5 games in a row. Take 3 of the top 8 out @ CLE or GSW and I don't think that happens. SA shows all the time that it doesn't. Without Chris Paul, we are the exact same team as last year and I don't mean that as a compliment. I feel like we are bottoming-out a bit harder than I thought we would. Does this stretch concern you or do you feel it was bound to happen?

Chris Paul adds diversity and play-making but I am concerned that Morey/Dantoi this is the end all be all. I just don't understand why there isn't more of a plan for the last 5 minutes of a game other than pick and roll/ Harden and 4 flat isolation plays. I sincerely hope that Harden begins to cede to Paul in all of these scenarios. It doesn't bother me much when Paul is injured. It will piss me off if Paul is just sitting off the ball. There needs to be more offensive structure during these crucial stretches. This is the fault of the mentality of D'Antoni, Morey and James Harden. Let's hope that the org can clearly see this and that CP3 can be healthy enough over the next 5 years during the crucial times to keep us "diverse". Harden has gotten better in every aspect of the game sans his performance in the last few minutes. It seems to be mental at this point and that is a bit concerning. The guy is playing at an GOAT level but he absolutely needs to play 5X5 at those points.

i thought it would look like not enough arms to carry all the Larry O'Brien trophies so someone has to go get a wheelbarrow but who's got a truck?

To be fair I mean...it's been years since the team last dropped 5 in a row. So this just feels odd and wrong.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned, but good lord sports fans are ridiculous with their overreactions.

It's not that I would bet on us to win it all right now. I wouldn't bet on anyone against GS, but if you ask me, we are pretty clearly the greatest threat to GS since they got Durant.

In 93-94, when the Rockets won their first title, they started out 22-1. To this day still tied for the best start after 23 games in NBA history. They played decently after to get to 27-4, eerily similar to our start this year. They then lost five of six including four straight against mostly garbage opponents, and that was without any injury issues I can remember.

    People need to freakin relax.

I thought it would look like .

    Players going cold streaks

Schedule losses , i.e. Back to backs and lots of games in a few days

Some injury trouble . Lesser players having to play

I didn't think it would look like all hell is falling apart . Our leader playing frustrated . Our coach not adjusting

I posted this in another thread a while back, but this looks more like self-inflicted lack of defense than adversity:
    ----------------------------

Our list of defensive accomplishments this month:
    • Allow Joe Ingles to shoot 7-10 inside the arc (mostly layups)
    • Allow Kyle Kuzma to shoot 8-10 on 3 pointers
    • Allow Kyle Kuzma to score 38
    • Allow Corey Brewer to score 21
    • Allow E'Twaun Moore to shoot 6-8 on 3 pointers
    • Allow E'Twaun Moore to score 36
    • Allow Jrue Holliday to shoot 4-7 on 3 pointers
    • Allow Jrue Holliday to score 37
    • Allow Rajon Rondo to shoot 3-5 on 3 pointers
    • Allow Damian Lillard to shoot 9-16 on 3 pointers
    • Allow Al-Farouq Aminu to shoot 5-8 on 3 pointers
    • Allow Austin Rivers to shoot 6-15 on 3 pointers
    • Allow Austin Rivers to score 36
    • Allow Lou Williams to shoot 7-11 on 3 pointers
    • Allow Lou Williams to score 32

I can understand our offense stagnating due to the injuries, but this is purely effort-based. This team has problems guarding the three point line.

Lou can cook, I'm not really surprised by 32 points. The Pelicans game our defense was great, they just made so many damn shots. All the other one's....yeah I agree.

I think Paul, mbah, and capela are our 3 best defenders so my disgust is tempered and I am very optimistic.

Tonight's game will be over by halftime as James needs to get showered and to the club.

Allow the anemic Lakers offense to score 72 points in a half.
