Rockets are Jell-O

What are the main ingredients of a good NBA team and why does everyone love Jell-O?

Bear with me on this amusing analogy.

To be enjoyed, Jell-O needs it's main ingredient, gelatin. In the NBA, it's a dependable big man. I think the Rockets have little to worry about in this department. The ingredient is there, but Jell-O needs time and a few more ingredients to be really good.

Gelatin without flavor isn't very popular and it's hard to market too. That's where the point guard comes in. The Rockets definitely have flavor at this position even if it isn't everybody's favorite flavor.

Flavor knows flavor. There's a lot of talk about how improved Baron Davis is this year. In a recent Houston Chronicle article Davis says:

"We're definitely going to get that rivalry now that we'll be playing each other more," Davis said. "It will be four games, probably some nationally televised games because he (Francis) is the best point guard in the West, and I'm up-and-coming."

So let's not question the key ingredients. The Rockets have them.

The saying is that everyone loves Jell-O but quite frankly, I need a little more. The variety of fruit pieces mysteriously suspended within the Jell-O always helps. This would be the Jim Jackson's and Maurice Taylor's of the dish. They're there to give substance, add interest, and make the desert as a whole taste a lot better.

Lastly, what Jell-O desert would be complete without the whipped cream on top. C. Mobley is the sweet fluff that finishes off this team. True, you can analyze him to the point of where it seems the team is better off without him. After all, whipped cream adds a lot of empty calories and fat to an otherwise healthy desert. But whipped cream just makes it all look better. It also adds an element of fun and this is a game we're talking about.

So there ya have it. The Rockets have the right recipe for a winning Jell-O desert of a team. Even JVG is competent and creative enough to make this dish. With the right ingredients, almost anyone can make Jell-O.

The only downside is that after you get everything together, it takes a little time and patience before you can really enjoy it.

I think there's too much slandering of the individual ingredients. Fans get impatient and want to pick at the Jell-O, stir it up, or decide to try different fruit combinations after its already in the fridge.

The ingredients are there. Let them gel and let's all enjoy a great desert at the end of the season while watching the Rockets do their thing in the playoffs.

Patience people, we have a good team with a bunch of guys who can ake it hapen.
We just need to be patient and let them come togther and execute the game plan.

Well then, where did all the people live?
Sorry, bad joke I heard. :)

That was an interesting post, though it just made me hungry, especially since I haven't had jello in a while.

Can I nominate this for post of the year? :)

Seriously, a really funny, entertaining, and true post about the state of our team. Sometimes I get frustrated with the sloppy play of our guards and the softness that Yao can show with his layups from time to time, but this team will come together to be something great! Hopefully we are starting to gel right about now.

Jello is better jelled! Ever try to drink it? Also, have you ever tried to nail jello to a wall? Or play catch with it? Or try to build something with it? Do you think your analogy makes JVG the jello mold? ;)

    I like that part.

See what happens when you're a new poster starting a first thread about something else besides bashing or trading our players? You get LOVE.

This sort of post is the kind of post I used to see a lot on clutch bbs. Nice post and please posting if you can continue with this kind of posts.

Will it be marketed in small paper cups or will it stand on its own like a jelly on a plate?
