With Christmas right around the corner I thought it would be a good time to start this thread. I always find myself with extra time to game during the holidays since I have 2 weeks off of work and there is always the good gaming rush at the same time. I wanted to start a thread to talk about what I am playing and plan on playing and see what everyone else is playing. My to do list for the holidays: 1) Finish Star Wars KOTOR: I am pretty much through about 65% and will probably finish this before my vacation. 2) Diablo 2: Still one of my all time favorites. I want to play through it with the new version 1.10. So addicting I always come back to it. 3) Age of Mythology: I am going to replay this one. I will probably pick up the Titans expansion after Christmas and I want to be current with the story line. 4) Battlefield 1942: Another fun favorite. I like to play a few games here and there even though I am horrible. Etc) These are some I will probably play if I have time after the above: I want to try MK: Double Dash, replay Zelda: TWW, and create a few more characters for Smackdown: HCTP. Those are my plans and I probably will not complete all of them but I'll get parts of each one done. What are you playing or anticipating playing for the hollidays?
Good topic. Right now I'm replaying FF9 and Kingdom Hearts. Playing some Madden too. I bought my wife Super Smash brothers meelee for christmas to play with her sister, so I might give that a go, but meh, fighters aren't much my thing anymore. If I get around to it I want to start Xenosaga, beat Metroid Prime, and some of the old psone stuff I've never gotten around to.
Now that the college football season is winding down, I'm getting ready to start recruiting for my new NCAA dynasties. I'm going to play as 8 different teams. Texas OU Nebraska (I like running the option) A&M Miami Notre Dame (I will revive this program) Mizzou (I like playing as Brad Smith) and of course my created team Sam Houston State. Any time any of these teams plays eachother, I'm going to let the computer play the game.
I do have a 3 year old but I am off for 22 straight days and he goes to day care during the week (we have to pay whether he's there or not, so he goes 4 of 5 days). So I get some done during the day and I have never required much sleep so I play a lot late at night. There is no way I'll get all the things I listed done. I'll get parts of each done but probably will only finish #1 and #3.
I'll stick with Madden until I get ESPN NBA Basketball for Christmas. Right now I'm only in season 2...7-3 with the NY Giants. Won the Super Bowl my first season...only playing on Pro because it is my first time playing it on XBox. Bumped the difficulty to all-pro this season.
I'm sticking with Madden for now. I've gotten tired of playing with just one team so i changed it up a bit. I updated the rosters and player ratings to reflect the players performances this year. I've got a franchise going where i am controlling all 32 teams. I pick one game each week and play it while simming the rest. When i get to the playoffs i play them all. The offseason can be a pain in the ass if you control all the teams but it's a challenge.
Here's what I'm playing and/or just recently completed.... Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (PS2 version) - I finished this about a week ago. Just an all-around outstanding, beautiful game. Just barely beats out Disgaea for my personal best PS2 game this year. Beyond Good & Evil (PS2 version) - Just picked this one up; I have heard good things about it. Final Fantasy X-2 - I'm a big FF fan, but so far X-2 is just "OK". I'm only like 4 hours in (which is very early); hopefully it'll get better soon. Castlevania: Lament of Innocence - Overall a good attempt at a 3D Castlevania...better than the N64 Castlevanias. Combat in particular is a whole lot of fun. Level design is bland though. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Not very far into it but so far it's great and quite humorous. Sword of Mana - Will probably start on this one today. F-Zero GX - Didn't much like the original SNES game; F-Zero X (N64) was good, but this GameCube game is just awesome. I'm undecided on whether to pick up Mario Kart: Double Dash.
When I get the time, I'm playing SSX 3. They did a really good job making it a totally different game from the last two, yet still addictive and fun. Anybody else like the EA Big games?
Wow, Cold Hard. I think you and I bought/played the exact same stuff. lol When you get farther into Mario & Luigi you'll find it only gets better. Honestly one of the funnest games I've played in a long time. Beyond Good and Evil is as good as you've heard. I probably won't have much time over the holidays, but I'm wanting to finally play Kingdom Hearts all the way through. Hopefully I'll get that chance.
Yes, this is one of my favorite times of the year as well for gaming. Right now, I'm playing FFX-2, like Cold Hard. I only rented it because I wasn't sure I'd like all the radical changes involved. I will say some of the things in the game are pretty good. I like the battle system, and the freedom to do things is pretty cool. The story so far has been um....ok I guess, although it does consist of Yuna, Rikku and Paine acting like Charlie's Angels most of the time. Much more light-hearted than the others. It seems like the story might start to pick up since I'm beginning to see some more clues of Tidus and trying to find out what's up.
I've been confined to my Gameboy Advance lately. I've been playing: Metroid Fusion -- A decent game, but way too short. Completed in under five hours, which is unsat. Mario Kart Super Circuit -- Hey, it's Mario Kart. Great game. Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons -- Entertaining and surprisingly challenging for a Zelda game. I will definitely consider buying its sister game, Oracle of Ages. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance -- Pretty good if you liked the PS version. I will probably be getting F Zero and Soul Calibur 2 this Christmas. I have heard nothing but good things about both.
KOTOR is an awesome game. Some small flaws but a great experience for fans of Episodes 4/5/6 of Star Wars. They nailed it.
Finished KOTOR with both Light and Darkside characters. Best Xbox game this side of Halo. Now its Call of Duty, Rainbow6 3 and the waiting game for Halo 2. Counter Strike on Xbox live is fun but not better then Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Going to play R6-3 during the break. We need to start a Clutch-BBS clan for some online game. Call of Duty, RTCW or maybe Battlefield?
I don't have much time to play games, though I love to. I've really enjoyed Star Wars Galaxies. I have been playing Morrowind, a favorite of mine from last year, as well. It was good then and for whatever reason I'm enjoying it even more now. I'm a little behind in my game playing so hopefully for Christmas I'll get BAttlefield 1942 and I can see what I've been missing.
I have been playing a lot of Madden 2004, and BF1942. Also, I have been slipping in time for SimCity4
Well...when my winter break finally comes..and only lasts for 2 weeks...I'll be playing Star Wars KOTOR...I have barely gotten anywhere. I'm stuck in the Lower City of I forgot already. And I'll be playing ESPN NFL Football 2k4...and NBA Live 2004...and some Counter-Strike and SimCity4 maybe. Unfortunately, SimCity 4 is extremely laggy for me. It's very fun though...and good thing I'm getting a Dell!
I've been thinking about playing it again some more. I started playing it again in the summer, and I went and got a bunch of new mods for it that put new weapons, quests, monsters, etc., and it almost felt like a new game. I really like that game.
