To beat the Warriors, you need to come close to equaling their strengths and then beat their weaknesses by a larger margin than you lose to their strengths. That's why you needed to upgrade the backup C position. It was the obvious solution to getting ahead without having to trade away someone like Ariza or Mbah a Moute for something better.

Billups: Don't mind his candor. I acutally like it. Nothing PC. He said the way we built this team, there's one team we have to beat. I'm obsessing over that. I don't have a problem. However, another team a couple hours away from them...

Beadle: Didn't they say the same thing last year?

Fizdale: Gotta be careful what you say. Spurs quietly doing what they do & are getting healthy. I like that he's getting it out there & not afraid. He's saying we're trying to win the title.

Pierce: He should just say that: I'm trying to win the title. If you beat the Warriors & lose in the next round, is it a successful season? Then, what are you playing for? End of the year, exit meetings, you beat the Warriors but lose the next round, you bring the guys in and say, "Great year guys! Great year, we beat the Warriors but don't have a title to show for it."

Beadle: What exactly if you're a Rockets fan do you take away from this statement?

Billups: Warriors are the class of the NBA. If you're a Rockets fan, you're saying I like the confidence. You're hoping & thinking, if we beat the Warriors, we beat them in WCF.

Pierce: Be obsessed saying I want to beat Cleveland makes more sense. Golden State, that's fine but there's bigger goals than beating the Warriors right?

Fizdale: Throughout our history, everyone had a team they were chasing. It's how you say it.

Beadle: He came out & said obsessed. That's strong.

Fizdale: His meaning was they're coming after a title.

Beadle: Rockets chances to beat Warriors?

Pierce: As good as chance as I give Cleveland, probably the only other team in the league. I don't know if they have enough star power. Paul & Harden/Durant & Curry will cancel each other out. Now role players. Klay & Dray compared to Houston's role players, they'll outplay them. I don't see any series, if healthy, going more than 6.

Billups: I don't care about star power. Here's where they're better: offensively, two high IQ guys. Warriors have 4 or 5. (Pierce: 6) Houston can go score 120. Defense has gotten better. They're switching & communicating better. I think their team is better. I don't have a % but now is the best chance they'll get. Warriors banged up a bit. Missing guys a week at a time. Two things: they gotta stay locked in defensively and Paul needs to be healthy to beat any good team.

Fizdale: Warriors, how many years in a row have they been to the Finals? 3? It would be 4 then? I remember that with our team. We crawled into the Finals that year. A lot will be based on how the Warriors will be feeling.

 

My friends this the best post of the year!!! Great job RestHarden. Until we get a backup C with size (Bogut, Asik type player) we are screwed at playoff time. We were useless in the playoffs by just losing Nene. Disappointed that this was not addressed in the offseason, unless we had hogh hopes for Tarik Black (who is really a forward). Lakers exposed the weakness big time the other night. Yes we were missing a few players, but the interior defense sucked!!!

 

Maybe we should think a little more about beating the Clippers first?

Well, the state of California apparently owns us, now. Good thing we don't play the Kings next.

 

Looks like our regular season 8 man rotation is catching up to us ....with our style of play we should be sending 9 at least.
