Hello, Since this is an issue in this forum for a long time and it might hurt this community some time in the future. So, I think it is a good idea to put this into a poll: If you are a Yao-"only"-fan: I give "only" a quote because I believe that there are a lot of people here coming to this BBS only because Yao is Rocket player. Since there are seveal people continually bashed that Yao-"only"-fans only care about Yao's stat but not Rocket's win, I want to know if it is really true. Here are your choice: 1. I only care about Yao's stat. If Rox loses but Yao have good numbers, I am still happy with that game. 2. I care both Rocket's win and Yao's number. If Rocket wins the game, I am happy even Yao has a off night. I am thrilled if I got both. My choice is 2nd.
Who cares what people like? they have a right to like whomever or whatever they like i think the whole thing is silly and immature, seriously, who cares if someone likes a particular player on the team? people calling out whoever-only-fans are just trying to make themselves feel better than others. to me, it sounds like a vegetarian calling another vegetarian out because they eat chicken or something. its a sport, people. its supposed to be fun, you can like the team, like players, whatever, but its for your own enjoyment, its not fair to call someone else out on what they enjoy, thats taking the fun away. same goes for people calling out bandwagoners and fairweather fans, they do it just to make themselves feel more superior to others. its just entertainment, dont ruin it for someone else just to make yourself feel like a better person.
It's ok to only like a single player, but when you come to a ROCKETS forum and your main wish isn't for Rockets to win, then you SHOULD get bashed for being an Yao only fan. BTW, just thought this was interesting, I lurk in Yaoming********** ever since I heard about that site, and I actually see a couple of threads that said something along the lines of "this is a Yao fan site, it's for fans of Yao Ming. But I think there are a couple of people that show they are actually Rockets fans here, please go to a Rockets forum, there are a few out there". I just thought it was hillarious, oh the parallelism.

Fietguy, I think the problem is that some people Label "Yao-fans" to "Yao-only-fans". I just want to show them that we are Yao-fans and we like Rocket because of YaoMing. We are part of Rocket fans and we are in the same boat with all the members in this community! Iper
It seems that not many fans are really "Yao-only" here. Many of them still care about Rox getting a W. Perhaps blaming fans "Yao-only" is just a way for Yao-haters to show their presence or express their xenophobia.
Vcchlw, good comments. One reason that I started this Poll just is showing to those small number of Yao-haters that We "Yao-fans" are not "Yao-ONLY-fans". Yao's success is not conflict with Rocket's success and Yao's success can bring in Rocket's success! If Rocket can not win a champtionship, it is hard to claim Yao is a super-center. And Yao-SF is the only two people in current team can lead this team to champtionship game.
I want Yao to put up good stats and for the rockets to win. The reason is simple. A large part of a person's legacy is left by how their team does and the great players always have championships to back up their play. It doesn't do Yao much good if he puts up good stats but his team is 0-82, since he would just be seen as a good player that couldn't lead his team to anything.

Hows the saying go? Whats wrong with calling a spade, a spade? I don't think anyone here really has much of a problem with YOF's that can see the big picture. It's the one's that feel Yao is the most important piece of this team and that he can do no wrong. It's the one's that get their panties in a wad at the first sight of any criticism regarding Yao.
