Nomar didn't say Yao wasn't a team player. He said that if he didn't learn to play the post strong, bang and get rebounds, his value and worth to the team would probably continue to drop. Learn to understand a post before you bash it.
Just imagine what will happen if Steve still score 20 to go with his 11 assists. Trust me, he can do that easily if his hands are hot but mind is cool.
