I like Anderson. He is overpaid but that is because of the crazy summer of '16 where tons of guys were overpaid. Not a ton of talent was on the market but a lot of money was available. That happens. I think he is good player. Obviously, I see the games where he shoots poorly but he is just a human. I've also seen some games where he has gone crazy.
Anderson is in a slight slump but is still a threat. He was amazing not too long ago for us. He will come back around. Just like how Gordon was slumping and got back on track on this homestand
People writing Anderson off like the EG thread, then the past few games happens. Its cyclical, even when Morey built the team, he stated we needed higher variance in order to beat the GSWs and Cavs of the NBA. Keep calm and keep winning, even if some of our role guys are underperforming, Morey brought in CP3 to raise our floor so that we'd still have a chance despite off nights of Anderson, Ariza (beginning of season people were calling for his head too calling him washed up), and Gordon.
I wonder if there is statistical analysis to back this up?? I don't know either way... I'm just curious if there's something mroe than eye test to say when player X is off, he should or should not keep shooting? In either case, If Ryno's shooting is off, might as well just have PJ in there... up to MDA to recognize who is on/off and substitute appropriately.
It's interesting how fans would say that a 40% 3pt shooter is killing a team that is on a 14-game winning streak.
Not sure if there are stats behind it, but great shooters have always mandated that to get out of a shooting slump, you have to keep shooting.
he had a very negative impact on the game vs Jazz. he's going to continue to have negative impact games vs other teams. but then he'll get like 6/7 3's off of CP/Harden's 6+ assists, and we're going to erase all memories of his terrible play. looked to me he was trying to do something else this game, go to the mid-range step-back jumpers or drive in for a layup, play a bit more on the perimeter on the defensive end. he wasn't jumping in the lanes to nab bunch of rebounds, wasn't playing great D against Joe Johnson. he just needs to stick to what he's good at, and we need to keep running plays that make sense instead of trying to add more things to his game.
He is the worst player of our 9-man rotation. Difficult to do anything about it due to his contract, just hope he gives us something in the playoffs. I really doubt he gets any meaningful/productive minutes against GS. Tucker and Moute will be more important than Anderson.
Well, I dont hate Ryno. And last night when he suggested the line up change. Man, that´s all I need to see. If he recognizes his bad matchups and works hard to reduce the gap, I´m good. It´s just one, but he allows a lot of the flexibility we have. We have a good group.
Well, I guess I'd have to check the stat line, but we always said that he plays better on the road than at the Toyota Center. Maybe that still bears out. He did have a problem with his back but came back the next game and lit it up. Since then he has been very quiet on the offensive end (although I should have marked the calendar when he got a blocked shot the other game!) It's been said: if I had such a hottie new bride, maybe my calibration on the home court would be a little off, too. In any case, we need him back on track.
I like the hustle/effort that he shows all-round, but his lack of athleticism kills us in many areas. My frustration lies with the following: watching him get beat on defense or lose his man off the ball, watching the refs rarely give him a call (not his fault), watching him pass up an open "quick-trigger" 3 and put the ball on the ground, stumble and turn it over, watching him contested under the goal getting blocked. He does a great job with his effort on the offensive glass, for sure. His 3 point shooting is totally fine by me, I wish he would shoot more, especially those "quick trigger" shots. Even if he shoots 30% on quick trigger shots, it's still better than pump faking and allowing the defense to reset, or driving in, turning the ball over and giving up points on the other end. Part of me would love to get a buyout guy that would take some of Ryno's minutes, but the other part of me just wants Ryno to play better so that in the off-season, the price of dumping him goes down. He's had a few games where no chocolate has been needed, but last night was so depressing to watch that I needed chocolate ice cream, M&Ms and cookies just to ease the pain.
He is not killing us, he is vastly overpaid for what he brings, but he is a weapon on days that they leave him alone. DD
I love the pseudo intellectual response of you just aren't paying attention to the details. I watch the games just like you. The question isn't whether Anderson does other things, it's whether he does them at a above average rate... and he doesn't. He doesn't provide anything at a above average rate besides shooting. Which explains why his RPM is 0.24 good for 117th.
He's basically a one-dimensional player, who, when his shots aren't falling, becomes a liability in the flow of the game. At least with Ariza, if his shot isn't falling, you get great perimeter defense. Gordon can at least penetrate and get a shot at the rim. Everyone other player in the rotation can at least do something else well. Anderson...not so much. Rebound, maybe? Even on his best day, that's suspect. Just because we're winning doesn't mean the team can't improve.
