'A Christmas Story Live'

I think they were gonna do Die Hard Live but the network didn't think it was a real Christmas story

 

Think it was based off the musical.

 

Yeah, it got turned into a musical like 8 or 9 years ago. I have friends who've been in some local productions of it. Theatre Under The Stars did it at the Hobby Center two years ago. Since FOX's other live broadcasts have been musicals (Grease, Hairspray, Sound of Music), I assumed this one would be too.

 

Original film worth checking out?

Wife and I checked out the live show on Sunday, thought it was cute. Expected it to be a musical, don't think a lot of people expected that for some reason.....

 

Didn't watch, but did they do the duck/Chinese restaurant scene?

Seeing that it's racist, figured it would be wrong. But seeing that this was a musical, figured it would be perfect.

 

I was curious about that but they put in Asian singers who did a classical take of the song, then asked the family what'd you expect?

 

No, Twitter also blew up about the diversity.

 

I'm Jewish and I watch it every year.

 

I tuned into this after football was over this Sunday. I couldn't sit through 2 minutes of it. And I love the original.

This was utter garbage.

 

Agreed, I made it through 4 minutes and it was horrible, it literally made me feel bad for the cast it was so bad

 

Not only is it a classic, but its a series of loosely connected stories within one plot of this kid's christmas, and because it's on all day on tbs you don't have to watch it all at once, but rather sporadically throughout the day and still get the whole movie

 

It was bad in pretty much every way that a thing can be bad.
