I'm all for MO being in a Sonics uniform next year because that would mean that the Rockets signed C-Web. ------------------ take it one day at a time
If Mo isn't a Rocket next year, he should to go the Eastern Conference and lead his team to a 72 win season ;-) ------------------ Founding Father of the Refs Suck Club
As an undersized center at that. ------------------ ""Minnesota and Phoenix, they're like the little teen-agers in the Friday the 13th movies. Jason is walking behind you. You know he's back there, but you don't see him." -Maurice Taylor
I think Mo will end up staying! If we get Webber there is little room and Mo will probably go to Seattle but I think he still wants to stay in Houston a lot and will probably wait to see what Webber does. Is there anyway we could sign Webber and Mo?I heard that even if we sign Webber we will still try to resign Taylor, can we? BTW,can Seattle get rid of Baker??? ------------------ If I had only 1 wish it would be that I had a big enough @ss the whole world could kiss-Eminem
I think losing Taylor, even if we get Webber, will hurt more than we think. ------------------ www.swirve.com...The reason Al Gore invented the internet.
I agree Rocketman. I wonder if it would hurt the Rockets' reputation? I really like Mo, and I hope he stays. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
I know, I know, it's from NBA talk, but here is the scoop anyway.... Scorned Mo could land in Seattle - According to the Tacoma Tribune: When Seattle was talking a four-team trade last summer that would have sent Vin Baker to New York, the true object of their desire was free-agent forward Maurice Taylor. When the trade fell apart, Taylor settled for a one-year deal with the Rockets for their mid-level exception of $2.25 million. Now, the Rockets are hoarding cash to court free-agent stud Chris Webber - they'll be $12 million under the cap this summer. That would leave Taylor, unfortunate enough to play Webber's position, hung out to dry. Hence he'd be a free agent the Sonics could pursue once again. This weekend, Taylor said he would consider signing with the Sonics this summer - but only if Vin Baker is no longer part of the team, which would probably suit the Sonics just fine. http://www.sportstalk.com/nba/rumors/index.shtml Here's the Tacoma Tribune article link too: http://www.tribnet.com/frame.asp?/sports/basketball/sonics/0325c72.html ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness." If V Baker has to leave to get Mo to become a Sonic, then Mo won't be a Sonic. Baker is killing the Seattle cap space and I can't think of a team that would be interested in taking Baker with his current contract. I am trying to decide who would get the better side of a V Baker - Big Country trade. Mango ------------------ Get it right or just don't do it! Resistance is futile....you will be assimilated. At the Sonic game, a guy kept saying: "Vinnie needs a fresh start. You guys wouldn't mind taking him, would you?" I said: "How would you like a 7 foot center? His name is Kelvin..." ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
I'd hate to see Mo as a sonic cuz my hate for that team is chronic But with Webber right here It's a championship year The team would seem almost bionic ------------------ "It's finger ling ling good!" - Homer Simpson's opinion of Kentucky Fried Panda
if Mo wants to go to Seattle, then better something, then nothing: lets sign&deal him for Baker. we got big man to return. ------------------
In this case I think Nothing is much better than Baker. Baker's signed till 2006. Capspace can be a beautiful thing. If we don't get Webber, just remember Tim Duncan could be a free agent in 2 years. ------------------ Mmmm ... open-faced club sand wedge.
To clear things up, Mo & Webber will NEVER play on the same team. Ever. To further clear things up, we can't sign&trade Mo cause we don't have his bird rights. I tink the question I'd like answered would be, if Mo knows we're going after Webber, would he wait until we're done pursuing so that, just in case Webber isn't coming, he can sign with us? Or is he just gonna sign somewhere else, without waiting? I think he'd look good on the Hawks. Ratliff Mo Kukoc Terry Knight That would be amazing in the East. ------------------
The drive for Duncan starts NOW! I thought he was a free agent after next season? On the Taylor subject, I hope this doesn't turn into one of the Sam Mack deals, where he has to wait and wait to see if we sign someone to basically replace him. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Sane, I believe that the Rockets can in fact s&t Mo. I'm too lazy to look anything up, but we had that discussion before. ------------------ (===)
Well if we don't get Webber we can look forward to 2 whole seasons of dreaming about Duncan in Houston. I stole the idea from the night show on 610. They also said if we did sign him it would be just in time for the opening of the new arena. Thought I'd add more fuel to the fire. ------------------ Mmmm ... open-faced club sand wedge.
Achebe, Sane, I believe that the Rockets can in fact s&t Mo. I'm too lazy to look anything up, but we had that discussion before. From the FAQ: However, a sign-and-trade deal cannot be made when the player was signed using the Mid-Level, $1 Million or Disabled Player exception [This message has been edited by aelliott (edited March 27, 2001).]
