dont get this fascination w/ focusing on cp3 and harden and "plays" within those two. those two guys are elite players. their priorities are getting shots for others bc they can get their own shots at anytime. you can't say that about anyone else on the team besides EG that can maintain that over the course of a full game. the way this team is built, that takes priority over trying to implement plays for two guys who dont need it.
they won't change the way they play but that doesn't really matter we will still win anyway. At their age, there's no changing the way they play, Harden will probably move around a bit more, probably not Paul
The easy answer is to continue to play like they're playing, even if/as competition improves. More specific answers, in order, imo: - #1 Continue to play and focus on excellent defense. Great defense, every night, every possession. Cause like Harden said, they've got the offense. [Theoretically]. Some / a lot of this is incumbent on MDA and the rotations, so he is able to balance defense and offense out there. - #2 Have Harden/CP3 play together as well as they seem to play when apart as the #1 ball handler. These two guys will be on the court down the stretch of close games. A+B should be >> C. Offensively, defensively, both - #3 Shooting efficiency. Again, keep it where it is, maybe with EG trending up with his 3 point shot.
once Ego hits his threes around his career or last year's rate, that's 2 to 3 more pts every game he's the 2nd to harden in 3 points taken per game at 10 (harden takes 11) Ryan Anderson takes a full 3 less threes a game at 7 But Ego's abysmal 31% on threes is causing him to just make as much threes as Ryan
https://stats.nba.com/players/isolation/?sort=PPP&dir=1&CF=PossG*GE*3 and if true, isn't this a good thing? 1) our defense better than our offense 2) defense wins in playoffs
1. Small sample size. Harden and Paul has just played a few games together. 18 minutes per game. Give it time. 2. Using that small sample size, they are offensively efficient. Give it time. 3. The problem is the defense when Harden and Paul play with RA. Replace RA with Tucker and the Rockets allow 10 pts fewer. 4. Them running around won't ensure the rockets win more games. But will be bad for the efficiency of 2 of our best three pt shooters right now. Because we all know off-screen three point shots aren't the most efficient to take anyway. Take that for data! Yes. We should tire Harden out more having him run figure 8s for 24 seconds every possession!!!!! Rocket River
You're wrong then about your original post. I also think you're wanting a motion offense instead of what MDmA wants the squad to run. Motion and triangle take too long and defenses are set up by the time you get a shot off. These guys both need to see the court and you can't see the court if you're running around screens.
....when President Trump calls them “Little Rockets Team” White House visit after winning the championship
All great players can create their own shots. As long as ball movement continues along with isolation creative plays, and defense, everything will be fine.
Its definitely the Chemistry when James and Chris play together . Right now , just the gravity is making them better off than they were last year ; also, they have an escape option to throw it to the other guy. However, In a perfect world we will get a bit more fluidity and interaction. Chris probably needs to look to score a little more. I think a better balance of aggression and play-making will come in time. Neither player has been this open in a long time. I'd like to see both guys play off-the-catch a bit more. Harden coming off a screen going downhill was lethal when McHale was the coach. Imagine that pass coming from CP3 who shifts the defense due to his own reputation !! There will either be an open shooter or Harden will be able to score. I think we can work on getting into our offensive flow quicker in transition and even after made buckets. Its been a good start and the pieces are working well together ... Just from my eye test , its not as fluid as it could be , as it has been in the past , and as it has been this year when only 1 of our HOF'ers are on the floor. I think the chemistry and speed will come with time. Or at least i hope it does because it could be the most beautiful offense ( to watch and maybe statistically) that I've ever gotten the chance to see. I have a soft spot for the 12-13 rockets offense ... the you cant plan to guard us because we dont know any plays... sure it got shut down and our talent wasnt as good .... but some of the creativity and beauty of the transition buckets was awesome to watch ... it was almost like watching soccer. We ran some good defenses off the floor that year ... and we didnt have nearly as good shooting or as an efficient scheme. I think Paul and Harden playing free and in sync can get us to even better heights.
.....Capela is able to put the ball on the floor and not turn it over. Get a lil but more skilled in the paint. He misses a lot of baby hooks, layups when they aren't dunks. Don't reply to me with his field-goal percentage. I watch the games and he misses a lot of Non-dunks ... Anderson becomes a consistent third scorer for us against everybody.
