Rewind back to the beginning of the 1993/1994 season. The Rockets were coming off a promising bounce-back season (from a ~ .500 record to 55 wins) in which its disrespected star player placed second in the MVP vote -- ahead of the greatest player of his generation, but behind a brash media favorite who looks like a lost 5th ninja turtle. They were entering Year 2 under a coach who's offensive game plan heavily valued the 3-point shot. Oh, and they were also entering Year 1 under new ownership.

Deja vu? Are there any other notable similarities you can think of? :)

They were both 9-1 in away games at the 10 game mark.

This parallels narrative was pushed hard when Dwight was here and I was very disappointed at the end. I'd rather not think of it like that this time. I think this season can stand by itself

    One more:

Star player snubbed with no All-NBA team selection 2 years before, after making an all-NBA team every year since age 23, but bounces back to a 1st team All-NBA selection in prior year.

We tried to trade Horry like we (possibly) tried to trade Anderson. Player went on to play a key role in our championship run.

The league was seeing something incredible while ESPN tried to cover it up. Deja Vu all over again.

Does this mean the 8/7 seed Thunder are going to knock off the 1/2 seed warriors in the first round for us, only to lose in the next round?

Also does this mean LeBron will be forced into early retirement? @RocketsTruth

Those championships are meaningless because Lebron was out those years! #eastcoastbias

LeBron would be back for one of those seasons and lose in the conference finals.
