I’m leaning torwards Johnny Cash, maybe Freddie Mercury or Jimi. I’m a Hip Hop fan and you can flame me for this but I think Tupac and Biggie are a bit overrated. Was also never a big Nirvana fan. Wasn’t around for the Beatles or Frank Sinatra either.

    Who would you bring back?

buddy holly - look at what he did in such a short time and think about where he would have gone if he had lived longer. he was an innovator in so many ways - merging different musical styles, recording techniques, ect. pop music might have turned out very different. his impact could have been greater than the beatles.

hendrix would have to be #2 - again, look at what he did in such a short time and where he was already starting to go when he died...he was only getting better.

Look at what happened to all his contemporaries, though. They were all marginalized and pushed to the side within 5 or 6 years. Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly... Even Elvis stagnated and became "old fashoned", even though he did all right with the movies. There was a sea change in the early 60's and literally nobody was able to adapt and remain at the forefront.

True story - Waylon Jennings was playing bass for Buddy Holly when Holly died. He was supposed to be on the plane with Holly but "The Big Bopper" was sick, and the heater on the tour bus was broken, so he let the Big Hopper take his spot.

As they were leaving, Holly jokingly said to Jennings, "I hope you freeze on that bus." Jennings responded (jokingly as well), "I hope your plane crashes." It was the last words he ever spoke to Holly.

John Lennon. We were so cheated when that coward shot him as he was just making a comeback and was only 40.

Apparently one of the main reasons they wanted to take a plane was because they had dirty clothes and really wanted to do some laundry. Crazy.

Tough to find a #1, but my top 3 would probably be Freddie Mercury, Hendrix and Michael Jackson.

And if we're going really far back in time, Chopin and Liszt.

I'm a big fan but...statistically, his age would preclude the ability to shape music as he previously had.

Plus, the longer he'd lived, the more likely we'd have realised he was an a**hole.

Nah, dude was selfishly incapable of admitting his faults.
Perhaps when he got to his sixties.

Hank Williams, Sr; just wondering how he would have evolved in late '50s and '60s. And Andy Gibb. Also, that one who died in a car crash, and who had a movie made about her where Schwarzenegger played her husband.

I'd bring back Kurt Cobain, rock is dead and I feel like he could do something about that.

Jimi. Mainly because I don’t think he had reached his prime when he died.
