Through 15 games (a little over 1/6th of the season) Harden would be the MVP of the league 1) Harden- 30.7 pts, 10.3 assists, 4.9 rebounds, 0.5 blocks and 1.6 steals per game with team rec of 11-4 2) Giannis- 31.3 pts, 4.8 assists, 10.3 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.5 steals per game with team rec of 8-6 3) Durrant- 24.8 pts, 5.2 assists, 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 0.54 steals per game with team rec of 11-3 4) Curry- 25.2 pts, 6.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds, 0.2 blocks and 1.7 steals per game with team rec of 11-3 5) Porzingis- 29.5 pts, 1.1 assists, 7.3 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 0.5 steals per game with team rec of 8-6 I don't see anyone else worthy so far as other players either have a poor team record or scoring barely 20+ ppg. Westbrook, Cousins, LeBron and Wall. As the season goes I would like to keep this thread going until the end of the season. I have a feeling Harden wants the MVP this year
I know the media has been all over his nuts this first month. I'm just hoping his scoring comes down to earth ala Derozen. Westbrook only took it from Harden last year due to triple doubles. Giannis is not doing that and so far their stats are neck and neck (edge to team record for Harden). The one big monkey wrench is how would Chris Paul effect Harden's game now. I'd rather us win of course, but will still be interesting
Paul Pierce keeps telling everyone John Wall is the best player and best POINT GUARD. ESPN and TNT hates Harden. Harden will be robbed out of 3 MVP after this year
Quick “write in candidate(s)”: Refs That’s a shot at you @swyyyguy and your threads of “truth” (sucky opinion)
if the Bucks win 48-50 games and are a top 3 seed in the East then Giannis will get it...he had the narrative before the season started which is half the battle right there I have seen many media members say that the return of Chris Paul could hurt Harden’s chances because he could have too much help...u would swear Harden plays on an Olympic team everyone else is way behind these 2 in the race for now Kyrie doesn’t have the stats and just isn’t an MVP caliber player, Lebron has had too many bad losses and his team isn’t that good right now, and GS is doing as expected and Curry and KD will take votes away from each other
If I were you I wouldn't follow it. It's obvious that a lot of the media really dislike Harden. They are just waiting for a down moment in the season to pounce on him and the Rockets.
Hopefully getting Bledsoe hurts Giannis and his stats fall off. Capela's MIPing won't help. Rockets' winning 60 wouldn't hurt.
Last nights game was a good sign to come that Harden will most likely be a high scorer with Paul on the floor. Paul still got 10 assists in only 20 minutes and Harden didn't have to have the burden of bringing the ball up all game long. I understand the high points scored were mainly due to it being the Suns, but the style of play may still benefit Harden for the season.
Kawhi Leonard is a potential candidate at some point. Given how MVP voting usually goes, if the Rockets continue on their current trajectory and win close to 60 games and Harden is averaging around 30 ppg, 8 apg, 5 rpg (assists likely to dip as Chris Paul gets integrated), I think he's the overwhelming favorite.
