Anyone have any suggestions. I am looking to get a 256 MB portable MP3 player. Is WeWa a good choice?

Yea I got the MPIO my way MP3 port player. It's real durable. You can plug it into the USB port and it comes with a player/download manager (easy drag and drop) to download. I work out with it all the time (it is very durable and light weight--> good for running)

    here is link....

You know, for only one twenty more you could snatch a 10 gig iPod, or you can go for what's in the box that Hiro San is carrying down the aisle right now. What's it gonna be!

Thanks for the suggestions bench and D. I think I'm going to go with an MPIO or a WeWa.

D, arent those iPod's kinda big? I need something really small for when I go running or something.

Look at the iRiver mp3 players. They're pretty portable.

Most of the small MP3 players are way to expensive for how much they hold.
    This one: http://reviews.cnet.com/Rio_Nitrus__1_5GB_/4505-6490_7-30474132.html?tag=pdtl-list
Has is a very small hard drive based player with 1.5G, and it's about the same price as a lot of the Flash (245MB) players out there: http://reviews.cnet.com/4502-6495_7-0.html?tag=srch&qt=&orderby=-7eRating

If price is less important than how small it is, then go with the flash based. The 1.5 G is pretty small and is worth the money. Even a Creative Jukebox NX is only $200 - 250 at 20G compared to many flash at 256MB for $200.

i had a wewa and it broke. Three times, the third time it was repairable. Dont get an iPod because the internal batteries die after two years and cant be replaced unless you shell out 250$.

as for the wewa, i had an older version and they were known to have bugs, i got it through yesasia.com and they had an analretentive return policy. twice. I think the problem was it kept on short circuiting, but when it worked, it was great, small, voice recorder, also works as a usb storage disk, very useful. until it broke. Then it took a few months just to return it, the second one broke a month later, and then i went through the return process again, they ran out of that model and gave me credit, but all they had were more expensive models so i got another wewa (wmp-305+) which was bigger, uglier and clunkier, and has an odd placement for a headphone jack, but otherwise it does the job and hasnt broken yet. by the time i got it, it was already outdated, its 128 and i could have gotten a better model from a more reliable brand.

wewas are cheap, but the old models have a history of breaking down. i wrote that on the message boards on yesasia.com and they got deleted, so id be wary of ordering from that company (plus i think my second wewa was a used model). I dont know if the newer models are just as good, but if you do get one, id make sure that you do the safe removal way from your computer instead of just yanking it out, because thats how it short circuits.

I've been looking for one too, about the same size...

Check out the Rio Cali...It's 256 MB, (can be expandable with memory cards), has an FM tuner, and is only around $150-200... It also got a pretty high rating (8.0) on cnet...

I've been looking for one as well, and the nicest one I've found has been the Creative NOMAD series. USB 2.0, >20GB, etc..

    NOMAD

I'd like to get one w/ AM though.

Nah. Apple will do it for $90. If you can operate a screwdriver, you can do it yourself for $45-50.

MPIO- Oh I mean't digital way..Sorry about that. I have a digital way.

What's really cool is that you can search a new song and select it while the current song is playing

I'd get the 256mb though..or the one larger than that. you should be able to have 2 hours of music on that.

The battery life is very good too. it uses a AAA. I work out for 45 minutes 5 days a week, and I haven't had to change it yet after 6 weeks.
