Regular season baseball is flip the channel, sip a beer and watch a couple innings before your favorite show comes on. Postseason baseball is edge of the couch, gripping and full of excitement when you have a team to cheer for. That being said, even that is below ANY Rockets ball for me.
In July, think Halloween. Basketball is mostly useless for 40 minutes. Agreed playoff baseball is conspicuous. Join the wagon !! Perhaps the next 3 years happen so well, the wagon grows BIG enough to mess around and sign everybody !!!! The near future could be MAJOR success/money for HOU. Something like we've never seen.
Poets are like baseball pitchers. Both have their moments. The intervals are the tough things. Robert Frost
Glad to have yall. A ton more basebal fans in houston are born this year. My parents had me in little league from a very young age so astros baseball was actually my very first love as a sports fan. Rooted for them and watched a lot of baseball before i even knew who the rockets were If you force me to chose, ill chose basketball but baseball is such a close second.
Playoff baseball is on an entirely different level. I don't think I could take 6 months of this honestly. It's too intense, but for a month it's great. The regular season is great in it's own way. Unlike most other sports you get to know the personality of the team inside and out. It's a lot more relaxed atmosphere. The baseball season is like starting a good long book that last 6 months with so many twists and turns that ultimately ends with a bang in October. There is nothing like baseball. So many ups and downs, good moments and bad. Baseball is like a microcosm of life. I don't think the same could be said of the other sports. Not that I don't like the other sports. But baseball has my heart.
Basebal and basketball is apples and oranges. Realy hard to quantitate which is better. I got love for them both. Both iconic childhood franchises.
Baseball is a game, yes. It is also a business. But what it most truly is, is disguised combat. For all its gentility, its almost leisurely pace, baseball is violence under wraps. Willie Mays
Thats why its the ultimate heart break sport when it comes crashing down. You invest so much time and energy into it. You get to know the players so well. Also the way season starts in spring when hope springs eternal and ends when fall comes. It is set up to be the ultimate heart break or ultimate satisfaction at the end of the year
February is always a bad month for TV sports. Football is gone, basketball is plodding along in the annual mid season doldrums, and baseball is not even mentioned. Hunter S. Thompson
Also, people complain that baseball is boring. I think people say this because they have to have action every second of the game. This is not baseball. There is admittedly a lot of downtime in the game. But this is part of what makes the game great, especially if you have a good broadcast team on tv. There are so many nuances that could be discussed between pitches. This is when you talk strategy, or even bring up the otherwise mundane detail. If you're into detail, then baseball is for you. If you're at the game their is ample time for people watching, which is half the fun of going. There is also plenty of time to take in the sights, smells and sounds. Some of my best ideas have been thought out at a baseball game. Their is also plenty of time to shoot the **** with the people in your party. I mean, what's not to like? Maybe the people that say baseball is boring should slow down to smell the roses. Not everything has to be non-stop instant gratification. When you pray for a hit or a run for 8 innings and then finally get it, there is no better feeling. It's like you've a won an intense game of chess. Nothing better.
Thats why theres nothing in sports like a clutch ass homerun. All the pent up anxiety and tension releases at that exact moment in time. Nba and nfl are more rythymic and have lots of motion. Baseball goes from 0 to 100. The moment is intense when it happens
Also its more of regional sport than nba and nfl. It can get so much regional attention and captivate an entire city when doing well but not as big an issue nationally. People tend to not care as much unless they have a dog in the race
October went from the worst month in sports to maybe the best. Basketball started around Halloween and your baseball team is usually done. I think February now has the crown.
I know nothing of baseball (not much exposure to it down under), my only link to the Stros is an old school cap I've rocked for years. I was dismayed to find they were a crappy team for ages, but now they are suddenly on top. It's not hard to get caught up in the hype, I won't forget that game 2. Any good links that explain the rules and nuances of the game, that's not too difficult to understand? For instance, one thing i don't get, is why they sometimes need to tag, other times you just have to make the catch on base? Its funny to see grown men play tag, and it seems like asking for an injury trying to tag someone whilst they slide at full speed towards you, studs up.
Football isn't gone, SuperBowl - and baseball players reporting gets "mentioned". Your self-proclaimed "most exciting sport", college basketball, has games all month. __ July is EASILY the worst - absolutely zero NBA/NHL/CollegeBB/NFL games. The days post-ASG are notoriously regarded.
Lotta rules, but force out vs tag out is a basic one. It factors into infielders’ decisons on which base to throw to, when to let a run score or base be had vs trying to get the out, etc... Hope this helps! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tag_out
