    Maynard James Keenan - Tool
Layne Staley - Alice in Chains
Thom Yorke - Radiohead (may not qualify as rock)

Whoa, whoa, Htown. R2K is one of the best when it comes to talking about rock music, especially heavy metal. I don't think he meant to lump Maynard James with Vedder and Cornell (who BTW is a kickass singer). He just said grunge guys - nobody specifically, and Cornell, Vedder, and Scott Weiland have all been mentioned in this thread. I took his comment as one in general and not directed at any individual.

After re-reading the thread, I don't know how I came to the conclusion that you called Keenan grunge. I appologize for that. Cornell may have started out grunge but hasn't been for a long time but thats neither here nor there, my main gripe was with MJK and obviously I was way off. Again sorry about that.

    Regarding this.

One man calls me son, and you aren't him.

Layne Staley would be my #1 from recent years.

Scott Weilandl, and possibly Maynard from Tool, rank up there as well.

I always enjoyed the lead singer of Tears for Fears as well, although I wouldn't call him a great singer by any means.

I'm also disappointed that 'Sugar Ray' has not been mentioned in this thread even once! :D

no vote for Brandon Boyd of Incubus yet? No matter what you think of their music, you can't deny that he's up there with the best of them (cornell, Maynard).

also, forgot about Pete Loeffler of Chevelle. He reminds me a lot of Maynard from Tool though.

Just because someone's voice doesn't cause the cat to run and hide, doesn't present them with status have having a great rock voice.
