GREAT ARTICLE!! I tend to fall on the side of being thankful Ryno is still on this team! If he at least maintains current defense levels of play.... Ryno>Melo (at least for our team)

    Not Rebounding %

Someone didn't read the article. :)

Also, FG%, eFG% and TS% are up markedly.

Something everyone should consider: While we can all probably agree that Ryan is overpaid, the fact is that he is a useful player and you CAN play him against the Warriors.

Killer contracts are the big $$$ deals to players that you have to bench in key moments. If you believe you have a contender, overpaying role players like Ryno is fine.

Yep. This is a key point. While we probably really do need another star to beat GSW in 7, as it is right now, if we are to look at this whole team and season as how we measure to the Warriors (as is, without further trades), Ryno might be the best PF in the league at under $20m* to match-up with the Warriors.

Pulling Green away from the rim is probably the best outcome we can get for $19m. Warriors lose that matchup, because they rely so heavily on Green as a rim-protector in Small Ball. And if they change their offense to have him ISO Ryno, that's a Win for the Rockets, too. Even if he does beat Ryno, I'm sure it will be a reduced ORtg to their normal offense.

    * -- obviously, not counting rookie-scale contracts. And I'm surely wrong with my "might" claim. There's someone else out there, but point still holds...he's a great match-up vs Green.

At Yota before joining the Rox:
    1/3
    1/2
    2/8
    2/10
    2/10
    2/8
    3/8
    1/3
    2/7
    3/9
    2/7
    =
    21/76 or 27.6%

    Against Chicago away only:
    [the total is 11(+13) / 45( + 23)] = 24/68 for 35% or 24.4% when the crowd is wearing red.

    0/3
    1/6
    2/5
    0/2
    0/1
    2/7
    3/8
1/7 here's a video of the crowd from that game wearing a lot more red:

7/11 was 7/11 two games in a row and was clearly hot at that time and also here's the crowd from that night not wearing red:

6/12 here's an image from the game.. not a lot of people wearing red that night but it is spotted red:

This person that tried to debunk my theory wasn't doing their work.

It's all about what you see when you're look UP at a rim. You see the rim and in back of the rim is the crowd. I still believe that seas of red messes the guy up. If the seats were empty at the game, there'd be a sea of red at yota or chicago. Clearly the seats are filled in the chicago pictures and we ALL know our lower bowl crowd shows up late.
If I'm Tilman Fertitta, I'd reupholster the seats for Ryno. Especially behind the basket. You wouldn't even have to do them all... just the ones between his eyes and the rim in his spots that he shoots from. If he shoots at home like he does on the road... look out!

That guy that tried to debunk me is full of it. I'm not saying he's definitely colorblind but the data leads one to believe he's got an issue finding orange amongst the seas of red. Who are these reddit people that follow my theories? I hope it's ya'll. It would be shocking if randoms were clutchfanning.

If he isn't elite at shooting, he does very little else. Don't give a **** if you inb4 it, point remains valid. This year is low post D has been excellent though. He has to keep it up.

What about lowering the lighting like Staples and MSG.

btw: Since Ryno has been in Houston, he's 19-38 (50%) from corner 3s at Home. That refutes your theory, albeit a small sample-size. But it is spread over months of play, so can't be attributed to a streak.

I just think when Pros are shooting, they don't see anything much further than their keen focus on the Rim. I'm not a big fan of theory about background colors can distract one from focusing on the rim.

Even if so, I don't see why it would only affect color-blinded people and not everyone. Maybe I think that way, because I just prefer to think it's more random or mental, and not biological/physical....because the former fixes itself.

Ha, we're going to find out that the line of site from a corner 3 is like the space between the upper deck and lower bowl.

I don't know anything about the lighting in these buildings to be able to compare them, but that's worth a look too. Why not!

I refuse to embrace it. If Ryan Anderson gets traded tomorrow for a better player, I wouldn't miss him (much). Rockets got a better player in CP3 but I still really miss Beverley.

Also if you're shooting from the baselines, you're looking at stairs in the Yota. HeyP's dubunk is debunked!

Also, I figured out that the degree of angle is between 7.8 and 10.3 degrees from Ryno's eyes when he's shooting. Without knowing the dimensions of the Yota, I can't tell you what the exact background is for him, but most of the time it's going to be stairs. Grey, easy to distinguish from a rim, concrete. My theory lives.

Long live Don G's stupid theories that might actually be correct!!!!

@heypartner That was oddly satisfying. Especially because your debunk attempt strengthened by stupid theory.

Look at those theory saving stairs!

I can't wait for some beat writer to ask about my colorblind theory and for Anderson to tell them that my theory is complete b.s.

Stairs are behind the baseline and basket is like 4' from the baseline. Plus, Ryno favorite 30-45 degree angle shot has a wide staircase in the background, no?

His shooting spaces the offensive floor so well, just like Capela's ability to finish at the rim sucks his man to him.
