http://www.latimes.com/sports/nba/clippers/20010323/t000025313.html I don't know if anyone else caught this quote:"I'm totally happy with the decision I made . . . There's nothing I regret," said Taylor, averaging 13.2 points and 5.5 rebounds before Thursday night's loss to the Clippers. With Houston chasing Phoenix and Minnesota for the final playoff spots in the Western Conference, Taylor is playing in important games at this point of the season for the first time in his four-year NBA career. "I feel good because the season has been going pretty well and we're in a fight to gain the last spot for the playoffs," Taylor said. "It's crazy for me to be in a playoff race. Every game in Houston has a playoff atmosphere. The arena is packed and loud. This is a different situation for me. I'm really looking forward to finish off the season strong and to get into the playoffs." In Taylor's three seasons with the Clippers, the team won 41 games. The Rockets have won 38 alone this season. Because he's playing on a winning team, Taylor does not mind that his scoring and rebounding totals are not as high as last season's 17.1 points and 6.5 rebounds with the Clippers. "I've had bigger numbers in L.A., but I think that I'm a better player this year," Taylor said. "I've learned a lot from [the Rockets'] coaching staff this year that I never knew about the game. There are little things that I was never taught. I think I'm a better overall player. In this short period of time I've been here, I think I've gotten better." Wow, there's a sunshine attitude. 4 more wins, and we'll have more this year than he had all the last 3 years. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
Mo Taylor seems like a great guy, who is a good addition on the court and in the locker room. If the Rockets don't pay Mo alot of money next year, some team will. ------------------ Bob Rainey is my hero!
I must admit, I love his attitude. Cat will probably fall off his chair, but... If we don't land Webber this offseason, I wouldn't mind bringing Mo back, as long as it's not a huge contract. I am seeing signs of Mo improving his game. Taking it to the hole, hustling for rebounds, playing decent defense. I didn't see this early in the season. If he could just learn to stay out of foul trouble, he could be a real threat in Rudy's system. Ok, Cat, go ahead and rip me for my impatience ------------------ "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."- (Aldous Huxley) [This message has been edited by BobFinn* (edited March 23, 2001).]
Sometimes I wonder why I even bother posting on this board ... I started a thread a couple days ago about how great Mo's attitude has been this year and in the face of our likely pursuit of CWebb in the offseason. Thought it was a legitimate topic since several posters (myself included) expressed concern about his attitude when we signed him. Not a single response. Oh, well. I totally agree with the other posts in this thread. How's that? (Here's the other thread: http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum3/HTML/012038.html ------------------ [This message has been edited by wrath_of_khan (edited March 23, 2001).]
Maurice Taylor is vital to the Houston Rockets. Taylor has an array of abilities that fit in well with this team. While on the floor Taylor brings headaches for the other team when his team is on offense. Taylor can post-up, penetrate, hit the jump shot or dunk the basketball. ------------------
You're right, I almost did! I'm glad you see that Mo has improved his play through the season. He does have the tools to be a very important piece to the nucleus of this team. I don't want just Webber. I don't want just Mo. I want both. And if Cato actually has a trade market (Clutch has said he does in past rumors), send his butt out of here for cap room and let's keep Mo and bring in CWebb! ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." "We want a higher seed. There's no doubt. We expect to get in."-- Steve Francis President of the Mo Taylor and Jason Collier fan club! Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com
Yee hoo or help Mo w/ a sign & trade to the Kings! A ten rebound turnaround will do wonders to this team (Webber's 12rbg - Mo's 2rbg)!! ------------------ tank tank tank tank tank tank tank your booootie.
Mo has really impressed me as of late. He seems to be having fun and I think he probably is good for the lockerroom also. When interviewed he seems to come across as a very inteligent person who is also very team oriented etc. I've noticed him wavings his hands up etc to try to get the crowd involved at times also. He seems to be having fun and enjoying himself. Then again after playing for the clippers he'd be happy anywhere ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be"
wrath-I meant for the discussion on Mo's comment on us having packed houses while in actuality we're one of the last teams in attendance. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
Yeah, I like Mo's attitude MUCH better than Webber's. Webber is a great player, but there is something about him I don't like. I want him on the team, but I won't cry if Mo is the one the Rockets end up signing. I will sob a bit, but not cry heavily. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
Nike -- I have absolutely no beef with you starting this thread. But everyone who posted a response used it as an opportunity to praise Mo's attitude. That seemed hilarious to me since I started a thread entirely about Mo's attitude (a post that I spent 30 minutes formulating) 24 hours ago and nobody responded. The difference? You have over 1,000 posts and I have less than 200. I've come to accept the fact that people who don't have a lot of posts get ignored on this board (I will simply never be able to invest the time necessary to amass 1,000 + posts) and have chosen not to whine about it, but this example seemed amazing to me. Clearly, there are people with something to say about Mo's great attitude this season, but nobody chimed in 24 hours ago when I started the thread Mo has proven that he is not a cancer. Whatever. This is probably the wrong forum to b**** about this anyway. Carry on. ------------------
Post counts don't sway me one way or another. What does sway me is a person's knowledge. wrath, I have read many of your posts and can tell you are knowledgeble. I simply did not see your post. After reading it (clicked on the link you posted in this thread) turns out you have said, exactly, the way I feel about the situation. ------------------ "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."- (Aldous Huxley)
I don't know, Cat. I'd still be happy if we didn't get Webber but kept Mo, and I know the Rockets may try to sign both this off-season, but I don't see that as the best arrangement longterm. A Mo/Webber frontcourt might be effective some of the time, but I don't see them as a good longterm arrangment. They're both good PFs, but I think we've seen with Hakeem's play lately how much better we are with a true Center who fits with the team. I don't want to see Mo T. go, but if we sign Webber, I think Mo T. should sign with a team willing to start him at his natural position. I know it's hard to find a good center these days, but I'd still rather try to deal for one than play Mo out of position because we don't want to let him go. You can't have your cake and eat it too. ------------------
