Why couldn't we try Wang Zhizhi as a PF for almost free.

He used to play PF with Yao for Chinese National Team.
He was bad as C, but may be OK as PF. Heard he is going to be signed by HEAT for about $500,000.

Chinese gov ant gona alow this, the Clips just signed him and they banned all Clips games in China. If we did sign him it might be a slap in the face to the Chinese, somthing Les dosnt want.

Not a bad idea as long as we can set up some deal between the Chinese and Wang. Despite what Wang did, I'm sure the Chinese still want him back. Imagine we pick up Wang on a bargain, and as long as he agrees to listen to the Chinese again. And I am sure the Chinese wouldnt mind them playing together. Afterall, the Chinese have their hope on a medal in the 2008 Olympic. This definitely will further improve our relationship with them. That could only mean more exposure and coverage of our games over there. $$$$$$ my man. Wang playing along with Yao for some minutes might not be such a bad idea. They know each other game well. Once Wang gets his confidence back, he should be able to contribute offensively. I bet he can also pass the ball to Yao much better than Cato has done so far, ala a Chinese version of Robert Horry. And I dont think having 2 Chinese playing on the same team should be much of a problem. Just look at the Kings. We could even save more money on the translator. The only problem with Wang is his defensive liability.

With an agreement with ZZ and the Chinese government, Wang could be big again. Ming and ZZ could tell each other what they were going to do without opposing players knowing. And I think that, if JVG works with him on defense, Wang could hold his own.

Why does this keep coming up?

When Wang first came up I followed his every game for two seasons. It was exciting to finally see a Chinese player in the NBA. But in the end, I came to the conclusion that -- he's not good! He's just unfit, unable to rebound, and unlikely to ever become a good player in the NBA. He doesn't have Yao's work ethic either, 3 years in the league, I see no improvements. The argument that he's getting buried is false, because he never does anything even in those minutes that he IS on the court.

I mean we have Scott Padgett. Wang is a poor man's Scott Padgett, and that's very very poor.

You're asking why Wang always comes up?

We already have a center playing out of position, plus he is slow. The Rockets need a quick, athletic PF that can play defense and do some scoring too.

I'm all for taking a chance on Rasheed Wallace this offseason, especially if we can unload Mo-T or Moochie.

    No Wang!!!!
    He sucks!
He is a Center/PF and he's out on the 3pt line all day long.
Man is that what we want?
    NO!
We have complained about EG on the 3pt line, so now we want Wang? And for what? Because he's cheap?
Besides JVG want's hard nosed, hard playing players who plays good D.
Wang just doesn't fill the description.

Wasnt that what Robert Horry used to do as a Rocket, and still does. I never really followed Wang, but I dont think he was just a 3 pt shooter in CBA. He was a perimeter shooter mostly by design while he was at Dallas. In the few games I did get to watch him play. He was pretty agile for a 7 foot 1, and did have some offensive moves. But I do think he has lost his confidence ever since he pissed off the Chinese govt. Defensively we are doing pretty good, it was the lack of offensive flow that's been hurting us the most.

Horry as a Rocket was a GOOD Player. Moved really well without the ball, and while he hit the outside shot, he wasn't one dimensional and could take it in too. Wang's got none of these qualities.

I'm not a Wang hater. I wish he could get better, but we just don't need him on this team.

To every WZZ bashers: STOP .

WZZ lead Bayi Rockets to 6 Championships in CBA. It was only after he left for NBA did Yao's Shanghai Sharks have any chance

Simple economics. Wang pissed off the Chinese govt, they don't like any team that signs him. Rockets have a mega sweet thing in China, they not gonna wanna mess it up even if Wang was good for their team (which he probably would be, Rox have one of the worst benches in the NBA in my opinion)

I had watched Wang Zhizhi and Yao play game 3 years.
In China ,they have the same ability
Yao is better than Wang by defance.
Wang is better than Yao by attack.

    Wang sucks.
He can't play D, can't protect the paint, can't rebound, can't post up and he is even softer than Yao.

Wang is great offensively, no kidding. But he needs to improve defensively. If he works hard enough, he can be the be the next Nowitski, no kidding here, provided he follows the game plan.
