ESPN: The Bulls and Raptors agreed on a deal Saturday that will send Jalen Rose, Lonny Baxter and Donyell Marshall to Toronto for Antonio Davis, Jerome Williams and Chris Jefferies, ESPN's David Aldridge has learned. The deal gives the Raptors a sorely-needed second offensive weapon behind Vince Carter.
The Bulls got screwed. At least that buries MacBeth's fantasies of Davis as a Rocket. This one is for you, MacBeth...for what it's worth, ESPN's Eric Karabell's take on Davis: Ryan Neitz (Chicago): How high is Jalen rose's value in Toronto? And Antonio Davis in Chicago? please just tell Antonio will be an all star here. Eric Karabell: Nope, can't see it for Davis. First of all, don't assume this trade happens. Jalen's value would go up in Toronto, but Vince is still there. Those 2 would score 40 a night, nobody else more than 10! Actually, nobody else gets 10 a night other than Vince now. Jalen's value won't skyrocket - if the deal happens. I'm thinking it might not now. And Davis? So overrrated, in Toronto or wherever. Can't shoot at all; never could. Doesn't block shots anymore. C'mon, he's a center and has no more blocks than Brian Cardinal.
Saturday, November 29, 2003 ESPN.com news services The Toronto Raptors believe they have found Vince Carter some help. Rose The Raptors and Bulls agreed to a deal Saturday that will send Jalen Rose, Lonny Baxter and Donyell Marshall to Toronto for Antonio Davis, Jerome Williams and Chris Jefferies, ESPN's David Aldridge has learned. The league office is closed for the holiday weekend, so the trade won't be announced until Monday at the earliest. League sources tell ESPN.com that Davis and Williams will not play for the Raptors tonight in Miami. Jefferies is on the injured list and would not be eligible to play anyway. The Bulls are not scheduled to play this weekend. Even though Rose struggled this season with the Bulls, he was the key player in the deal. Three times in his career he has averaged more than 20 points per game, including the 2002-03 season (22.1). He has a career scoring average of 14.4 points per game. ESPN.com reported last week that the two teams were discussing a trade involving Rose, and were trying to get the right players involved so the deal would work under their respective salary caps. This was the third attempt between the two teams to get the deal done.
BREAKING NEWS: ESPN.com news services The Chicago Bulls have been sexually assaulted...raped.....battered and beaten. The Raptors and Bulls agreed to a deal Saturday that will send Jalen Rose, Lonny Baxter and Donyell Marshall to Toronto for Antonio Davis, Jerome Williams and Chris Jefferies, ESPN's David Aldridge has learned. This trade will leave the raped Bulls in shock, as they will have no number 1 option scorer to go to. This also will leave them with no backup centers. It is unknown why the Bulls thrusted themselves out into the open infront of the assailant Raptors. They were flounting their goods for days before finally being stripped naked and taken advantage of. I think this.........accurately displays my feelings about this trade and the direction of the Bulls organization.
I thought the whole point of trading Rose was to get more shots for Chandler and Curry, now they get Davis who they will have to start over one of them... dosent make sense.
With AD and JYD, the Bulls will get more rebounds and improve defensively, two areas they were really weak in. Crawford can step up as a main scorer now, with Hinrich at PG. ERob will have more of a role, as will Gill and Pippen, all swingmen who are better defensively then Jalen. It's addition by subtraction, considering Rose is shooting 37% this season and Chicago played alot better in the preseason when Rose was out with an injury.
Unless other deals contingent on this one are going down, stupid trade on both sides. Hmm, let's see ... you have toronto, who is loaded with overpriced swingmen(Vince, Williams, Lamond, and throw in MoPete who should be getting pt) and only one guy of any worth who can play c. So what do you do? Trade your only decent c for an even more overpriced swingman. Then you have Chicago. Their starting sg is who now? AD does nothing for that team. JYD does nothing for that team. I would say Toronto was the winner in this trade only cuz -they got the best player in the trade -AD is old and may break down any minute now But the trade doesn't do anything for the talent they'll put on the court this year. They'll both end up worse off, but I'm sure they're looking forward to that.
Man, has the Bulls organization taken a hit after losing their core players from the 90's. I'm lovin it.
Clearly for the Bulls this is addition by subtraction. Toronto wins the trade in talent terms but the Bulls were tired of Rose's act. He was a cancer for that team and took away a lot of shots that should go to other people. Rose did not mesh well with Crawford and Pippen. Interesting trade. Good situation for Toronto that needed another scorer.
expect MO PETE to be traded for another big man.... i don't think the Raps GM would be soo stupid to trade away all his big men....for one... i think Othella Harrington will be a RAP. My rumor that is.
Perhaps Cato would look good in Raptor Purple (or are they wearing red this year?) I'd take Marshall & Mo Pete for him.
If the Bulls are making ANY roster decisions based on what Pippen may or may not want, then they are truly nuts.
The Bulls traded away Ron Artest and Brad Miller for Rose and now are trading away Rose for a broken down power forward with a terrible contract. It's no wonder they suck so much.
