Japan-South Korea relations, Vietnam-China relations, China-Japan relations, Philippines-China relations, China-South Korea relations. They all have racial issues with each other.
If he was a real baseball player, he shouldn't have done the gesture. He brought this on himself. Hit the HR, go celebrate, sit down, fine. The gesture had nothing to do with baseball.
'calling people out' doesn't produce any progress. Only when people make a personal decision to do the right thing regardless of circumstances will we move forward.
I don't think someone's reputation should be ruined on an appearance and speculation. ****ing sue me.
Them Cubans got caught red handed in the VIP area. They arrested 2 managers, 5 dancers and 3 patrons.
No it really isn’t. Casual racism shouldn’t be accepted, no matter the context. I support the astros but can be disappointed in one players actions. Remember the Spanish national basketball team photo with the same gesture? There was, appropriately, a backlash even though they tried to say it was not meant to be offensive and more affectionate. I’m not even saying yuli is a racist. He may have been using it affectionately but he needs to learn how it can be perceived.
Damnmnn! U think it was a setup? They just stormed in randomly or just caught them while raiding the spot ? I like how we are discussing it in the Gurriel thread. Lol.
Not a justification but in latino culture they stereotype a lot but but many times not in a malicious but playful way. In the US due to the history this is taken very serious
Sigh...what should be one of the biggest weekends in Houston sports history is being spoiled by garbage like this and McNair's **** earlier today.
So then get out in front of it and either apologize or deny. People aren't calling for him to get banned from the league, or even getting suspended (Dodgers fans excluded). He has no history of doing this so I'm not gonna assume he's racist; just made an ignorant gesture in the heat of the moment. I don't know why there is so much push back asking public figures not to do questionable things on TV as role models. He apologizes, gets a small fine and we all move on. But apparently that's asking too much.
