Fumbles and interceptions. The best way to kill momentum. To think I was actually nervous up until that fumbled attempted kick return. Bring on the Rose Bowl and Michigan (gulp!)
Hook'em. This has to be the worst A&M team I have ever seen in my lifetime. The new coach has done wonders for them.
If only Benson ran like that a little earlier in the year.... That is, unless OU happens to lose next week...
Man just got back from the game, here are my thoughts: Texas played it way too conservatively (Just like in 2001) and consequently the game was close for much longer than it should have been. The crowd was much more into it than I thought they would be, and it was as loud for 3 quarters as OU in 2002. Cedric Benson is playing like a madman. By playing VY at QB, it opens up the field for him and he runs all over opponents. Had VY started against Arkansas, I think Texas wins, and could be going to the Sugar Bowl for a rematch with OU. This is the worst A&M defense ever because we have no good LB's. Out of the 9 LB's who play FIVE ARE WALK-ONS!! two are second year and two are first year players. That is inexusable. Another reason we suck is because we have absolutelly no talent in our senior and junior classes. As one of my friends said, "Well, we can't get any worse, we don't lose anybody." A lot of uninformed people will put this season on Fran, but when you take a crappy 6-6 team with no depth and take Jamar Taylor, Greg Porter, Jami Hightower, Bethel Johnson, Sammy Davis, Terrence Kiel, Jared Morris, Brian Gamble, etc. off, then we were destined for a crappy season. As far as Texas goes, it will be interesting to see who they play in the Fiesta (I'm assuming that's where they'll go.) If they open up the offense, I think they will be able to beat anyone (besides OU, who no one can touch.)
Just got back from the game also....MAN WHAT A GAME!!! NOTHING BETTER THAN KICKING AGGIE A$$!!! THOSE GUYS ARE GEEKS!! ill give them credit they kept their stupid cheers up entire time...was my first time in college station...interesting experience...loved kicking their butts...hook em baby
Feel that knot in the pit of your stomach? It's the big M crankin' a saw. Saw 'em off. Until you can beat OU, you gets no 'spect.
Michigan wouldn't beat this years OU team. And what has Michigan done to earn my respect? Beat Ohio State at home? Oh joy, beating the luckiest and most overrated team in America is sure proof of anything. Texas and Michigan are mirror images of each other in one respect. They were left for dead after their second loss but since then rebounded to put themselves in a good position in the BCS. Michigan is a fine football team and they happen to be the matchup I want for the Horns. But if you judge everything on beating OU, who has the fastest team in college football, you would think that team up in Stillwater was better than UT the two previous years, and that's just fiction. I'm interested to see how the pace of the big ten would fare against a top big 12 team anyway. It often seems to me that big ten games are played at much slower, dragged out paces than texas or oklahoma games. Trust me, I've seen way more big ten football because of ESPN than I ever wanted to and I stand by that belief. Plus, Michigan's loss at Oregon would hold true to my theory, as they have a fast but smallish football team. And OSU should have lost to NC State, another smaller but faster team. I think Michigan is a great team, but Texas deserves just as much respect for going 7-1 in the Big 12. And it would be a great game for both sets of fans. But if you think Texas would get mopped up by Michigan, I've got three words for you: Bring it on.
I'm a huge Michigan fan, and would've gone to school there over Texas if I wouldn't have had to donate a kidney or two to pay tuition. I've been watching them for years now, and I feel like they are a mirror version of Texas. Both are supremely talented teams that seem to lose a game they shouldn't (or two) each year, as well as a game to a more talented opponent. This year, Michigan should have taken care of Oregon, and maybe even Iowa on the road. Texas, as we know, lost to Arkansas and a much better OU team. I think a Texas-Michigan game would be an extremely even matchup. I think Michigan's defense might be a little better than Texas's defense, but the ability of Vince Young to run might be something that gives Michigan trouble. Both have very good receiving corps, and capable D-lines. Anyway, I'll wait to see if it works out this way before analysis. I've heard more and more rumblings that if Texas makes the BCS, they are going to the Fiesta Bowl- no exceptions. I guess we'll just have to see how it plays out. But by no means would a Texas-Michigan game be a pushover for either team.
You gotta make sure OU doesn't slip up vs. Kansas State. If Kansas State pulls a stunner then OU still goes to New Orleans, KSU gets teh automatic bid and Texas gets left out since one conference can't have 3 teams in the BCS. We're kinda waiting here in Ohio because if Miami beats Pitt today then we are likley going to the Orange Bowl for a rematch vs the Canes in the Orange Bowl. Manny that will give us another year to talk/complain about the game! However if Pitt upsets Miami (which is very possible) all heck breaks lose and we may goto the Orange to play FSU, or possibly to the Fiesta at that point.
Would it not be hilarious that OU hates UT so much that they would lose on purpose? Won't happen though. Stoops loves conference and mnc titles though.
OU is a much, much better team than K-State, and they've got a chance to go down as one of the alltime great college teams with a perfect season. No chance they slip up. I miss the days when Texas A&M was competitive. The game loses alot of luster when one of the teams is as bad as A&M was this season.
Although the Sooners have had problems with mobile QBs in the past, it looks like they're over it this year. Shut down Ell Roberson and make him beat you with the pass. The KSU secondary is its biggest weakness. Look for Clayton and Rankins to work the middle of the field as they have been all year long.
