They said that Cuttino was the best one-on-one player in the league. Thats right, not just on the Rockets, but in the entire league. Lets not focus on all the bad things about Cat, but rather the good.
The guy is so talented and when announcers from the other team admit he is the best 1-on-1 player, you know he will be great. Lets sit back and enjoy watching Mobley and Francis light up every team, no matter how hard they try to stop them. This is the backcourt of today, and the furture. Trust me, Mobley will win many more games with his play, then lose with his bone-head plays.

But one-on-one players are selfish. By definition they don't look for their teammates. They obviously are not doing what the coach says. And if they are, then the coach sucks. It is not winning basketball. I don't care how long it takes these masters of one-on-one focus like Dream, Jordan and Iverson to learn to "feel" where their teammates are; it is not coaching.

Jordan ruined the NBA by being so good at one-on-one, and now Iverson and Kobe are too.

I hate Mobley, because I hate one on one.

They also said Cato looks like he's in a haze out there. And then the other guy said, "What...did you not see his first three years in the league?"

Maybe Cato is smoking pot before games??

    Reasons for:

    1. Lackluster Play
    2. Previously teamed w/ JR Rider, Ra-spleef and the Trail Ganstahz
    3. Getting absolutely abused by the Candy(ass) Man
    4. Inability to interact with media
    5. Seemingly illogical assumptions about current role on the team
    6. Lack of Tats: too lazy to go get them?
    7. Loss of motor skills since college

    Reasons against:

    You decide...the question is MOOT!!

    HP,

Funny...very funny, but you know what, none of those players started winning the big games until they started passing to their teamates at crucial times.

Remember John Paxson, Steve Kerr for Jordan?

Remember Kenny Smith, Sam Cassell, Vernon Maxwell for the dream?

    Iverson...well he is still learning.

One on one will get you some cheap wins, but when it counts...in the playoffs, one on one will get you to the golf course...and fast.

    you forgot to add....

    8. Getting the munchies during games
    9. Having dilusions that he leads the league in rebounds
    10. Never taking responsibility for his own actions.
    11. Going on the injured list because of a headache.

In Cato's defense. Didn't Olajuwon get torched by the Kandy Man earlier this season? I still think Cato's a loser, but Olawakandi (sp?) isn't THAT bad.

Actually Olowakandi is one of the biggest busts for a first round, first pick, in the history of the NBA. He got schooled by Elton Brand 2 yrs back in the rookie challenge.

Olowokandi's developing his baby jump hook nicely, but I don't like his game in general. He just jumps into his defender, and forces the foul or runs them over.

Honestly I've missed all of the Rockets-Clippers games but I remember hearing people talk about how he's improving.

Also back to my question, didn't Olajuwon get schooled by him earlier this year?

Yes, Kandi did put up good numbers against Hakeem. I don't remember exactly, but there several posts to the effect that Hakeem should retire because he didn't stop Kandi. Kandi is quite a bit taller than Hakeem and tall enough to get jump hooks and fadeaways over Cato.

You certainly cannot say a center is a bust based on his rookie year. I wouldn't be surprised if he weren't one of the top 5 centers in the next 2 or 3 years. Most big guys need time to develop. The Clippers announcers commented several times about how Kandi has been improving recently, not just in last night's game.

That was Hakeem's worst game of his career. He followed that up by averaging 16-11 for 20 games. Cato's performance against Kandi was average for him.

Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.

Yea, Kandi did hoop on Dream but that was back when Hakeem was itching to leave Houston. He didn't have his mind right and wasn't feeling well because he went on the IR list a few games later......but when he came back is when he started wreckin and showin some signs of his old self.

Thanks for the responses. I just kept seeing ppl talk about how horrible cato is b/c he got beat up by kandi and I just kept thinking of how this same "horrible" Clipper schooled Dream.

    Cato still sucks.

Joe Smith hasn't been the player he was supposed to be.

But, at least he put in two good seasons(18,9)

We have seen passion in Cato though.

    That is a plus.

Next year we might get a jump hook.

After he misses the first 50 games of the season, of course.
