Now you sound like what you called another poster earlier today.

Playoff Kershaw has clearly shown he's not "always difficult to hit." He hasn't even shown, "mostly difficult."

I'll chalk this loss to unfamiliarity as most our bats entered with < 4 ABs against him.

It's real similar to Playoff David Price shutting us down.

Do better next time, Stros. And do better in the meantime too.

hm. I kinda like this one way more than the one I proposed. if springer is still buns then correa will be pitched around whereas they can't do that with yuli after him.

i'll be surprised if we see a switch tomorrow though... i think hinch might make that move only if we lose game 2.

this is intriguing but won't they just pitch around Correa?

i blame the 100 weather and no roof for that dallas homer, that grip slipped.

no excuses for not hitting. It feels like we have 5 carlos gomez in the line up.

It wasn't an incredible effort by Keuchel --- 4.05 ERA.

This is baseball where guys routinely suck for weeks if not months at their worst. Bregman was garbage for a while. I could see moving Springer down and Bregman to leadoff but Springer's still been an elite hitter vs lefties all year, it's just a rough time for him to get cold.

The best place to put Springer right now is 6th or below. He's so bad right now they will just pitch around better hitters in the middle of the lineup to get to him.

Yeah. Hopefully this is the big positive from this game that continues forward.

We need more help than just 4 reliable pitchers.

I thought about this before the start of the series, send a sacrificial starter other than DK against Kershaw, and match up DK against maybe Darvish at home instead. Wasted a good effort by DK because his matchup was better.

    Probably.

But at this point, we need as many base runners and opportunities as possible. So it isn't a complete loss, and really improves our front end hitters.

Springer can't be the lead off anymore.

He messes up at bats for everyone behind him when he goes out like a deer caught in the headlights. Altuve and Correa deliver high percentages with runners in scoring position, but Springer can't even get on base anymore.

I'm not asking for much here, just a decent hitting average and on base.

Imagine if only Springer was on base when Bregman homered. Extra runs make a huge difference. It changes the whole complexion of the game if we go up 2-1 early on Kershaw.

I'd dump Springer at 8th. He's not doing anything. Reddick got a hit tonight. And last game. Tell Marwin to only bat left-handed. He has a 75 point split in average in favor of "as left against right" over "as right against left." That's too wide a gap to justify switching if you ask me. Of course, the latter will never happen, but definitely put the 4-strikeout leadoff man at 8th.

I am tempted by your putting Altuve first. It does seem that when the Astros do start a rally, it usually starts with Altuve getting a hit. He's a psychological sparkplug for the team.

Stupid Hinch. Why did you move Reddick down the line-up?

That’s the problem though, Springer is clearly pressing. It’s so obvious watching him swing the bat. He’s so worried about getting a big hit he’s completely lost sight of what his role is on this team. But yeah, I really wasn’t expecting Hinch to make such a move.
