yes I had to all caps. this is one of my favorite bands of all time and robert fripp is one of my top 5 guitarists ever. He is the best naturally left handed guitarist that plays right handed ever IMO. I'm buying them for bass concert hall as soon as they go on sale. I'll bet they sell out within a day. right now they only have the really expensive vip ticket up for sale. I'll buy a normal ticket within an hour of them announcing it. https://www.jambase.com/article/king-crimson-announces-2017-fall-tour
anyone who cares at all about progressive rock can't miss this opportunity. this is the OG progressive rock band. they changed the game! there is no mars volta, fall of troy, tera melos or any of that without king crimson! I'll bet @Torn n Frayed and @Deckard know wasup
October 19th at Bass Concert Hall on the UT campus. A truly great band and Fripp is/was every bit as good as you said. Saw KC back in the day. Unreal! I'm looking into getting tickets now. Fall is going to be cool in more ways than one. Already have tickets for John McLaughlin's last tour at the Paramount Theatre in November thanks to a heads-up in Hangout!
Weird. The link lied to me. I was 2 in 1994 so i couldnt have known. If you click the link ull see that it says first time since 1974 lol my bad
I was off by a year but here's the set list from the show I saw; https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/king-crimson/1995/houston-music-hall-houston-tx-33d70c81.html
Yeah screw that fake news link. Im just glad fripp is coming! Amazing setlist! They mustve had belew with them at that point judging by the songs they played. Lucky My favorite king crimson stuff is the belew stuff. Especially discipline. I super love the early greg lake stuf too though
Ok, tickets in Austin aren't on sale yet, but it doesn't look encouraging. First, it's Bass, a UT venue. Almost always expensive. Second? The "VIP" package you can get now, supposedly, is $365 bucks a person. For that, you get a ticket, a photo signed by the 8 piece band, and a tote bag. Seeing as how I couldn't have paid more than $6 dollars a ticket the last time I saw them in concert Houston in the early '70's, with no service charge, I have a real problem paying what will probably end up being over a hundred bucks a ticket for even halfway decent seats. We'll see. (Below is my usual, "You have no idea how great things were back in the '60's and early '70's" spiel, which I trot out at times like these, just in case anyone missed it the first time, or the 2nd, or the 3rd time (or more) over the years. All true, but repetitious. I enjoy recalling those days, what can I say! Cheap concerts, cheap LP's, cheap rents, cheap gas, etc., and the best music in the world, as fresh as it was ever going to be. That, and "free love" if you were truly in the midst of the hippy era, and I was beginning in 1966.) Spoiler I really feel sorry for everyone today who wants to see top notch groups. Tickets with absurd "service charges" dumped on top of ridiculously high ticket prices makes it damn near impossible for an average person to take a date to a concert. I once paid $2.50 a ticket to see the Allman Brothers and 2 other groups in the Music Hall, and $3.50 to see Pink Floyd playing most of Dark Side of the Moon before the LP came out in the same venue, in the first surround sound concert in Houston. I would ask my friends to chip in a dollar towards gas and as long as there was room for my chick, we'd pile into my Mercury and head for an amazing time. Gas was around 30 cents a gallon. I rented a 2 story house in the Montrose area for $135 a month, bills paid. Tuition and fees at a major public university in Houston was under $150 dollars a semester. It was a great time to be alive.
I was fortunate enough to see King Crimson (in Houston) at Rice's Cullen Auditorium for the 'Discipline' tour. It was great, of course. I actually ran across Fripp himself sorta mingling w/ the crowd after the show but was too intimidated to say anything to him.
Of course the guitarist avatar poster is about king crimson! Bro so many thoughts, cant put into words. Tonight was just too incredible. There were 3 drummers bro... 2 hour set with one 20 minute intermission
