Max, you are one of my favorite posters.

You sound like a less jaded version of my dad. Less because he just straight up started cheering for other MFs.

I really just hope my fellow true HOU fans have better things going on in their lives than living and dying with local sports.

Offense in one of the worst slumps of the season, yet it's still 2-2. Silver linings my friends. If this offense gets back on track tomorrow and DK and JV do what they do, then this 2 game losing streak will be a blip on the radar.

If DK or JV got that 4 run lead, this would have been a W. If we have to play small ball for games 5 and 6 to get runs, then do it.

    Amen.

This hurts .... I can't say I am shocked... until it happens I am half expecting it not to happen. The talent is there but that isn't always enough.

This game 5 is going to decide the series... Peacock better pitch if the pen is needed.

The problem is that there is only so long you can hold on to those silver linings. The 2-3-2 format is not forgiving if you don't pull off one in their home field and tonight was a night to steal it. Our bats have gone silent at the worst time and we face Tanaka tomorrow who is really good in NY. We were barely able to hit him in Houston and he sucks on the road.

No city is worse except maybe CLE.

    <3-team cities are invalid
    4+ are automatically better

Even if Stros finish NY, the rotation is prolly f***** for WS.

We can't hit and have 6 total pitchers who can be trusted. Fortunately, they're all capable of 4+ innings.

I straight up will say we're Not winning this season.

Prove me wrong, Snitch Ass H-Sports... I gladly eat all crow.

What a game to lose. F***** embarrassment of a sports city.

Yeah, me neither. I don't even dare wear other teams gear.

But I'll still call a spade a spade. Mark Ass Sports City --- but I'm a sucker for love.

    Yeah, few can blame Hinch.

Most thought Lance should be 3 IP only regardless of success.

The bullpen wasn't gas can, it was ether.

    Three damn hits.

There was once a time I thought Devo was going to be this year's Andrew Miller. Many people here did. A multi-inning pitcher/weapon that was this team's best reliever.

At this point, this collective bullpen isn't even at 2015 standards. Musgrove has great stuff, but throws a lot of pitches in the zone.... which doesn't always work out with playoff-focused hitters zoning in on anything hittable. Gregerson may even be in front of Harris now, that's how far that guy has fallen.

Giles being a 2-inning type closer never appeared to be a great idea from the get-go... but evolved organically (in a bad way) due to Devo's regression, Harris falling off a cliff in the second half, and Musgrove still figuring out the nuances of being a late-game bullpen pitcher.

How bad is our bullpen compared to bullpens of the team's past? They seem bad when the sky is falling. But, are they that bad compared to past years?

    Astros Strike Zone
    @AstrosUmp
Shaded areas show where strikes are typically called. Distance from strike zone and percentages are based on typical zone actually called, not rulebook zone.

Call hurts #Astros Ball 1 should be strike 1 Bot 8 Giles vs Gardner 20% call same 1.9in from edge

Call hurts #Astros Ball 1 should be strike 2 Bot 8 Musgrove vs Romine 14% call same 3.4in from edge

Call hurts #Astros Ball 1 should be strike 2 Bot 8 Musgrove vs Frazier 14% call same 3.4in from edge

Call hurts #Astros Strike 1 should be ball 3 Top 7 Green vs Gonzalez 12% call same 2.4in from edge
