I remember this same question was asked during last year's playoffs, and just about everyone said they would do this trade in a heart beat. How things have changed. ;)

    -G'day-

And there is also a huge possibility you'll get 0/0/0 from him for $10+ million a year for the rest of his contract.

No thanks. I'll stick with Cato & Mo.

TMac sounds like a loser to me, even Steve for TMac is lopsided favoring the Magic. I mean, c'mon, this guy hasn't acheived anything in his career (I know he already made tons of money) yet he is thinking about retiring. No way I want such a guy on my team.

Hey, if Orlando called and dangled TMac for Stevie and Cat, I wouldn't laugh and I wouldn't hang up on them.

TMac has it all. If something like this would actually happen (and I doubt it would), I'd be interested.

shaq thought about retiring early too. does that make him a loser?

look folkx, if you're offered tmac for anyone on the rox outside of yao, or anyone combination of players outside of yao, you not only say yes, but you offer to wash their car and clean their carpet, too.

as for tmac's back problems, i imagine it would be much less of a problem if he wasn't carrying such a heavy load.

Big whoop, so the main topics change from "Steve and Cat don't pass to Yao" to "MacGrady doesn't pass to Yao"...

I can live with that. :p This guy can drop 50 any night.

Honestly, Tmac understands the importance of big man
througth his struggle in Orlando. And he can collect triple
    doubles at will.

Yeah, if Steve was the only decent player on this team, he could drop 50 any night too. Of course then he'd be a ball hog.:D

I cant believe this many people wouldnt trade Steve for him.It doesnt matter though because Tmac wouldnt want to be here since Floridas coastlines and beaches and weather is way better than hot humid Houston. Stay in Florida Tmac ,the grass is always greener on the other side !!!

anyone who wouldn't trade steve for tmac is out of their mind. completely. tmac is a top 5 player. steve may not be a top 20 player. tmac is actually younger than steve, is taller than steve, has more talent than steve, and is bigger than steve. throw in cat, too. doesn't matter.

if you wouldn't trade steve for tmac, you're an idiot.

Look at the thread title before you call people an idiot. It says SF & Cat for T-Mac. I'm sorry but this team is nowhere near as good as it is now with T-Mac minus SF AND Cat.

SF for T-Mac straight up .. of course I'd do that ... But why the hell would Orlando do that?

No, the bigger idiots are the people on here discussing an NBA Live-type trade such as this one. In terms of pure talent you can't say T-Mac is head-and-shoulders above Francis. Think of it this way, if Francis were a few inches taller we'd easily be talking about Steve the same way we talk about Kobe, T-Mac, etc. Also, given that Francis has to dial his game down CONSIDERABLY in comparison to T-Mac's you can't make a fair comparison between the two players. I'm pretty sure if Francis were allowed to play the SG spot (i.e., like Iverson after his rookie season of trying to play PG) his numbers would compare pretty favorably to that of other shooting guards in the league. T-Mac is, what, four inches taller than Francis? Yet, he avg. less assist and maybe a little more the one board a game than Francis. Of course T-Mac dominates in scoring, he's allowed to take 25+ shots a game without much discretion from his teammates, fans, coaches. He also needs to b/c his supporting cast isn't nearly as good as Francis' is. What is ironic, though, is that T-Mac is now being seen as selfish and the main reason Doc Rivers was fired.

Anyway, with all that said, T-Mac is a better player than Steve. Doesn't mean he'd make a better fit for the Rockets than Francis does, though. I can see it now, as soon as T-Mac has his first 30+ shots game for 40+ points and Yao only touches the ball 10 times, many of you wanting the trade to go down now would be disgusted that it was even discussed. *lol*

tmac is better than steve, cat and moochie combined. if offered, you take it.

that said, orlando wouldn't dream of this. in fact, they'd laugh in our faces and hang up the phone.

From 2000-2002, TMac singlehandedly carried his team to the playoffs.

In 2000, he averaged about 27 points a game, 7+ boards, 4+ assists, 1.5 blocks & 1.5 steals. Yeah, he also played about 40 minutes a game. In 01-02, his minutes dropped to about 38 but he still got 26 points a game, almost 8 boards, 5+ assists and 1.5+ steals a game.

He was even in the running for league MVP. So yeah, if we had a guy like that on the team, we'd expect him to take a lot of shots. He can put the rock in the hole, and we'd expect him to do so. He takes and makes the clutch shots. Yes, he's better than SF, and yes I'd trade both SF and Mobley for him.

I wouldn't cry if he took 30 shots in a game. Hell, if we got Duncan, we'd want him to take over the team too. Same with KG. We're talking about that type of caliber of a player. Steve Francis is not on his level.

I agree with the people who think that this is a good idea. As much as I like steve and cat, I will trade them for tmac. Tmac still have so much room to improve, especially defensively. He can be a good defender just by sheer size and atheletic ability. With more coaching and yao shares the scoring load, he can concentrate more on defense.
Hopefully, the magics will keep losing. They already fired the coach, the next step has to be trade.. and tmac is basically their only player with trade value.
As for grant hill, he is too much of a gamble right now.
