Did anyone get on the $79 Dell Axim X3I deal? It was regularly priced at $379.... This has got to be the best deal Dell has screwed up on!
What exactly is the deal? Man, I bought my new compi when they were slashing prices on flat panel monitors. I could live with a CRT if I could've gotten a pocket PC that I would rarely use.
No, there was a pricing error on Dell's site. They had a $300+ Axim for the price of a $30+ cradle or docking station for the Axim. They've since corrected the problem on the site. Now people are waiting to see if they get the goods or if Dell is just going to say it was a pricing mistake. Dell "screws up" about once a week. They recently came through for people that got 200 gig hard drives for $20 or something. I've seen $1000 PC's in the past go for $200 due to pricing errors. I've gotten a $1500 21" LCD monitor for $600 or $700 thanks to coupon stacking. Don't worry... just wait a bit and Dell will "screw up" again.
THe deal wont go down. A couple of weeks ago I bought a Rio MP3 player thats normally 350 dollars for like 78..... they sent me a cancellation notice a few days later.
I think you should call them and bring up the legal issue, they will probably give it to you for that price just to avoid the trouble.
About a year and a half ago, myself and about 2000 others on the net ordered Nvidia Geforce 4 Ti4600s off of Best Buy's website when they first came out. No one ever got their video card, and it became a HUGE fiasco for about two months. The card was advertised for $129, with a $200 savings. The card had JUST come online for pre-order, and no prices had been posted anywhere. It seemed like it was probably a pricing mistake, BUT someone called Best Buy and they confirmed it. When we ordered the cards, BB even took the money from the purchaser's credit cards. About 3 days later, they refunded everyone's money (kind of . . . not everyone got money back), and just acted like it was nothing. Some people took it to court, but I don't really know what happened after that. Here's the whole saga. I can totally understand the idea of a pricing problem, but IMO the minute that you've taken someone's money, you can't go back and say "Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't supposed to give it to you for that price" and give them back the money.
The coupons are mailed to you via email or snail mail. The catch was that they shouldn't be stackable - that was the bug. That combined with the fact that they were giving 20% off the monitor made the savings silly. So what ended up happening was that you could do something like : price * 20% off * 15% off * 15% off
