    A/S/L !?

    http://money.cnn.com/2017/10/06/technology/aim-shuts-down/index.html

Damn, I remember spending many, many countless days/night just chatting away on AOL/AIM from like 97 to about 2008? I literally just logged on my old account and sure enough, nobody is online. It was cool seeing everyones screen name though and made for some good laughs as I took pictures and texted it so some of my friends. Man, my AIM game was strong back then with the ladies lol Me then 17/M/NW Houston meet me at Memorial City Mall in front of Gadzooks, now? 36/M/Chicago... Ouch

C-Ya! Post some of your memories on AIM...

A/S/L/ pics? It was a great way of meeting girls back when I was in high school. I met this girl in an AOL chatroom and talked on the phone with her for about a week before she agreed to meet up in person. She wanted me to pick her up a few houses away from heres and I see this shadow figure sneaking out of her 2nd story home and jumping onto a tree branch and finally onto the fence. She was a freaking ninja and look like something from a movie.

AIM was such a blown opportunity for AOL. They even added voice calling to it way before anyone else even had a messaging service. I wondered why they didn't advertise and run with it.

But AOL had no corporate vision at the time and was doomed to fail.

Seriously. Think if AOL had known what Facebook and Twitter would become. I mean everyone used AIM back then. If they'd thought to add some features when their userbase was insane, they coulda been Facebook today.

Everyone talks about Chatbots now, but I already talked to them on AOL like almost 20 years ago. SmarterChild was one.

Man, the memories... The excitement when that girl you liked signed on. Gotta say something cool/funny! Working the buddy icon game. The chat rooms were lots of our introductions to trolls, extreme sexual language, etc etc. Good times.

Honestly, I run a business and ask agents for emails daily. Anytime they give me an AOL address I chuckle. AOL is Myspace before Myspace became a joke.

Macked a shitton of hoes on AIM back in the day. They were probably all 45 year old dudes but it was still fun.

    Pour one out for AIM.

Damn, my craziest moment with aim was finding out this big ass dude wanted to beat my ass back in 6th grade. I kissed his chick while playing truth or dare at a friends house and she told him and then put on her away message that I was going to get my ass beat on Monday. So crazy. Didnt get my ass beat though.

My ex and I talked for probably 8 hours a day at least when we were 17/18. Eventually moved on to GChat. Then marriage. And then divorced.

    Stupid AOL.
