Man, what a stud backcourt! Almost identical FGM/A numbers, and identical points. The big plus is Mobley's been clocking 3.3 assists since his 41 point Point! and Mo's is going crazy. Maybe I'll add his stats later. We are attacking with a patient secondary break more often than walking it up after a miss! All number go up with that fastbreak!

So, you think we are going to be starting Walt again anytime soon?

Nice table, HeyP. I personally have no problem keeping Walt's ass on the bench. Especially now that we have Bullard back, who is much more consistent as a shooter than Walt will ever be.

you know the funnest part of making the table was adding the comment...

    "...since benching Walt" multiple times

In fact, in a little exercise in cathartic purging of Walt from your soul, see how many times you can say:

"since benching Walt" in any reponses. Enjoy!!!

Nice stats, but they don't mean anything without comparing them to overall season stats. So, since benching Walt, Francis has been scoring a bit more & getting more rebounds. His shooting percentage, 3pt %, and steals are down. Turnovers are down.

Now, does this really mean much? To show the disconnect, his free throw %, which has nothing to do with Walt, is also down.

So, basically, his stats have gone up or down slightly in different areas -- none of this means anything related to Walt Williams.

Wait till we get rid of Shandon w/ a decent big big guard or SF at the 3 heyp. When are we going to place those bets, btw? [IMG]

I can't quit looking at those rbg from the backcourt. God bless America, imagine if we had Webber's 11.5 per game up front.

    shanna, true true true.

I thought heyp was having fun w/ the fact that Mobley starts now more than dealing w/ Walt being out of the lineup.

Oops, I guess I missed that! I react to Walt-bashing like heypartner reacts to Mobley-bashing. [IMG]

    Shanna,

I did say that I don't like stats...but thanks for playing the "since benching Walt" game.

...since benching Walt, we have been able to score more secondary fastbreaks by not walking it up court.

...since benching Walt, the team is shooting close to 47% (somebody run those numbers)

...since benching Walt, our assists are up (somebody run those numbers).

...since benching Walt, Mobley has stormed onto the scene with about 4 ppg more than before.

...since benching Walt, Francis has been taking much more 3s and nailing them.

...since benching Walt, we are 25-15 for .625 and a 51 win season!!

How have Mobley's minutes changed since benching Walt? Bench Mobley and I bet Walt could score 4ppg more too....

...since benching Walt, Francis has been taking much more 3s and nailing them.

Actually, he might be taking more 3s, but he's hitting a lower percentage.

...since benching Walt, we are 25-15 for .625 and a 51 win season!!

Since losing Olajuwon, we're 4-1 (I think), for a 0.80 and 66 win season. [IMG]

Stats can be used to show what you want... this is a perfect example of that.

40 games is a slightly bigger sample size than 5.

    Shanna,

So let's throw out stats then....

I'm a huge believer in the importance of a sharpshooting SF in our half-court sets...but not at the expense of improving our fastbreak. You still haven't addressed the change in our fastbreak points...since benching Walt.

I'm not arguing whether or not our team has been better since Walt was benched. I am arguing that none of these stats show that.

I could as easily say the improvement is because our team is maturing and learning to play together. There's nothing that you've provided that indicates the progress has come because we benched Walt -- it may be true, but none of the above means that.

    Correlation does not equal causation.

BTW, the team won alot of games towards the end of last year with Walt in the starting lineup, and Mobley off the bench.

    Shanna,

I didn't give team stats. But they are there, as I mentioned in my previous thread. Assist numbers mean better ball movement. They are up. Fastbreak numbers mean easier shots and better defense. They are up.

As for your claim "I could as easily say the improvement is because our team is maturing and learning to play together"...I agree, but not since benching Walt have they learned to play together for a 25-15 run.

    coincidence....? or 3 guard system?

I think it is the system...since benching Walt!

key point is "towards the end of last year", what 14 games! I'm talking 40 games in a playoff race.

that is causation! The 3 guard system rox!

    ooh...here's another useless stat.

...ever since benching Walt our scoring has gone from 93.7 ppg to 99.5.

Walt averaged 13 ppg (in about 26 minutes per)over the team's final -60- games, after his early season slump. For the entire second half of the season he shot 50% from the field and 45% from 3 point range.

But Mobes didn't take Walt's place in the lineup, vs. last season. Mo Taylor did. WW did his damage mostly playing power forward last season - he opened up the lane for the guards and shot when his man left him on the perimeter. Mo's averages this season are roughly identical to WW's last season for the second half (minus the 3 point shots). Of course, Mo is bigger and better, and deserves to start.

Anyway, I don't care whether we start 3 guards, 3 forwards, or 5 centers, as long as we're winning. It would be nice though if we got consistant production from the small forward and center positions. Shandon's been in a funk all season, and Cato hasn't been the same up and down player he was last year: he's been nothing but down so far.

TheFreak loves Shanna? No wonder everyone's acting normal now.

TheFreak has Shanna, JayZ's posting drastically improved after he started dating Ali and BK's hasn't been quarrelsome in the months matching his new love.

All that w/ my new found drinking habits, and this place is turning out alright. Now as long as ZRB takes his lithium, eeeven keel babbbay.
