I'm sure he is willing to stay, but a fun clubhouse won't keep him here.

Just keep Springer, Altuve and Correa together. And Marwin...

He should keep the ones that end up on track for the HOF.

Right now, Altuve is meeting that criteria and then some.

If we can only keep two of the big 3, you keep the infielders. I love Springer, but he's a lot more replaceable than Altuve, Correa, or even Bregman for that matter.

I still dream of our mid-90s infield that could have been Caminiti-Jeter-Biggio-Bagwell...

...good decision in the long run to deal Caminiti, bad decision to draft Nevin ahead of Jeter...

Crane/Luhnow laying serious groundwork to gain a competitive advantage in the Correa free agent sweepstakes.

Sign his boyhood idol? Check. (Beltran is god in PR.)

Intro and foster relationship with beautiful local girl? Check. (Correa is dating a former Miss Texas; he met her when the Astros front office had her throw out a first pitch.)

Provide support during time of need? Check. (Crane helping in Puerto Rico and offered to fetch Correa’s family.)

Locking up Altuve and Correa sure would be sweet. These guys (especially Correa, Springer, Altuve, Marwin) sure do seem to love each other.

    Counterpoint:
-Let portions represent the franchise at the NBA lottery. Check.

-Made sure portions dated a local dime piece from the Houston area. Check.

-Made sure portions felt important in the franchise by letting him lead recruiting for dwert. Check.

-Made sure portions had local ad deals with car dealerships. Check.

-Allowing portions into free agency early to sign him over the cap once we had our big 3. Errr.....

I would love to say we have a clear path to lock Correa up for many, many years to come, but weve all seen that road and where it can take people. Granted, I believe portions and Correa are 2 very different people character-wise, I just dont want to put all our eggs in one basket. FUKC YOU portions(although, Im glad we are rid of you now in hindsight).

Yeah. Can't keep them all. Will go all in for Altuve and Correa.

Question for Altuve though is he's not a FA until 2020 and he'll be 30. What kind of contract do you give him then?

Likely true. Take the average of what Harper and Machado get after next season, add 20%, and that’s what Correa will likely be lookin for.

Pay the money for all three, whatever they want, sign a Chinese ball player, cash out like Les. This will get done. We can go back to your 2011-13 Astros in 2030 and recoup then. This is a dynasty.
