has anyone read the espn.com report for last night's game? they take the quote from rudy t about the atrocious call by kennedy completely out of context. the quote appears after a paragraph describing the crazy performance by the kings in the first, but it was actually a response to a question about steve getting tossed! here's how the quote reads: "I don't feel like talking much after that," Houston coach Rudy Tomjanovich said. "Let me say this -- that's about as good a performance as I've ever played against. They were phenomenal, and I have so much respect for them, but I don't feel like talking." in fact, they barely mention that francis was tossed from the game, don't mention why he was tossed at all, and fail to mention that the rocks were on their way back from 20 points down when it happened. on top of that, the summary is entitled "rockets never recover from king's 46-point first quarter." WHATEVER! very disappointing coverage.

The title "Rockets never recover from King's 46-point first quarter" accurately describes the outcome of the game. The Rockets did not recover after giving up that many points and being down 17 after the first quarter.
Incidentally, if you read the ESPN recap of the game it mentions when and why Francis was tossed.
    To quote from the recap:

"He was ejected in the opening minute of the second half when referee Bill Kennedy apparently interpreted Francis' excited gestures after a dunk as taunting.
Both teams thought the ejection was unjustified, with Mobley saying, "I'm going to hold my tongue. I'm so mad right now, I really don't feel like talking."

They mention it at the very end of the article and they do take Rudy T's quote out of context.

well, i don't mean to quibble about this, but the point i was trying to make is that the rockets DID recover from that first quarter barrage by the kings. just like they've done time after time over the last 25 games, the rocks came back from a HUGE deficit and were within 7 points. i call that a FULL RECOVERY. in the NBA 7 points is nothing. however, i acknowledge that the article mentioned francis' dunk. i was so mad by the time i got to that part of the article, i missed that.

If they got within 7 points, then they never recovered, did they? If they had only been down 13, they would have tied the game. The fact that they got down by 20 means they couldn't tie the game, and thus they never recovered from that deficit.

I think people are really desparate to hate ESPN...
