It has to be something wrong with this save file that keeps bugging it up. I mean it crashes at the same time, twice in the same season - hardly coincidental. :(

    The luckiest franchise in OOTP...

Ona Mellons increases his talent in hitting for average!
Ona Mellons increases his talent in taking walks!
Ona Mellons increases his talent in avoiding strikeouts!

Aw, you got to be kidding me. Send a batch file(or whatever it's called) to tech service of OOTP and let them fix it.

I'm guessing that we'll have to re-start the 2006 season again. Not start over all together....correct?

****ing unbelievable. I am in a meeting for 3 hours and this **** happens again??!!

What needs to be done (I like Buck's idea, though) is to test Heath's hypothesis.

Is there a file that has everything with the 2006 season saved up to 7/22? If there is, just fast sim the rest of that season. Then we can get to 2007 and see if it will mess up again at the trading deadline.

I can understand this happening once, but there is no way that it should happen again. Game has to have a bug and it needs to be told to technical support for OOTP or whatever the hell they are, so they can fix this ****.

Well technically there isnt really a crash, there is the screwing up of player profiles - but the sim is no good without those, seeing teams win 57-48 and such with killed players.

Well, I think it is worth the time to get Castor involved. If I recall correctly, I think he has had contact with OOTP about screw-ups with the game. Hell, if he has time, he might be able to recognize what has happened and could save us the trouble of having to re-start the 2006 season for the 3rd time.

Maybe Chuck has already talked to him but if not, Castor, I know you are busy but can you help us out. Please?:(

I second this plan. What would it hurt?

Another alternative, which I have no way of knowing is doable or not is for someone to find a site on the net to host the league as it is now (7/22/06). That way, if nothing else can be done to save this season, Chuck can go to that site and look at all the teams and see who is on each team and what the salaries and talent levels are. The only problem is doing this will probably take at least a week, probably longer compared to just re-doing FA, the draft, etc.

I hope we can avoid having to re-start for a 3rd time for the 2006 season, but if we have to, I guess we have to. I just have to hope and pray the Buck and DHR would still want to do the deals that we have already done.

But once again, I will send the call out to Castor. Please come in like the knight on the white horse and save us from this ****ty predicament!

The season is backed up at the start of the season, Chuck thought about backing it up yesterday, but then decided backing up is for p*****s and would wait until after the trade deadline.

Well at least we (or maybe I should start saying you) have a backup to use. We did not take backups at all earlier.

Ladies and Gentleman, The Curse of Shea Hillenbrand strikes again. If you do not believe in....The Curse of Shea Hillenbrand, then I question your very bone marrow.

2007, the Anaheim Wakefields grace the playoffs in just their fifth season of existence. Led by an all star rotation of Kris Benson, Chris Bootcheck, Francisco Rodriguez, Paxton Crawford, and Adam Wainwright. Along with a monster lineup of Rondell White, Casey Kotchman, Dallas McPherson, Preston Wilson, and batting ninth, Shea Hillenbrand.

While the Wakefields playoff success did not come at the time, they had laid the groundwork for decades of chances. That is until a certain player named Shea Hillenbrand parted ways.

23 seasons later, 2 gut wrenching national league championship losses, and a plague of events that have done nothing but strike down the Wakefieldian namesake.

Bartman, Bambino? I give you the true fear...

So, what are you saying? That the 2006 season was saved after FA (meaning the start of the season is 3/31) or not (meaning 1/30). If it is the second one, then that is just like the way it was before.

I mean I think it is worth the time even if it takes a week to see if OOTP tech support will respond and fix this problem. God knows that it will take a week (at least) anyway to redo things just because of the draft itself.

One easy option of 'fixing' all player profiles instead of takeing the save we have now (7/22) and manually correct ALL the player profiles, is to fast sim the entire season from the start until the trade deadline, then do do the trades and correct the profiles that differ (in talent not ratings), and offer players the contracts they've signed so far in our sim (if the players don't like the offers now, chuck can manually enter them).

This way you get to keep your players/talent and this is what matters most to me. Of course the computer/fast sim might make me 7 games out of the playoffs instead of 4 games up, but starting over at the start to then maybe crash a week before the deadline is the worst possible option to me. Also I need Hermida and Pickel. :)

Also after saving/backing up at the trade deadline chuck should try to sim out the season as a testrun to see if there is any crashes. Then if not, we go back to the trade deadline and takes it from there.

An advanced version of this could be Chuck simming up the season to the trade deadline in 2 weeks partions, without updating to the page so anyone in the chat could make injury changes. It however is important if we go this route (either of my suggestions) that we dont overwrite the current state of the sim as it is needed to correct changed player profiles.

I agree with Heath on his last post that this is what needs to be done if Chuck can't save what is out there now.

One thing that is not made clear in Heath's last post is that Chuck did make a backup file of the 2006 season AFTER FA and the draft had been done.

So, for example, Johan A Santana will still be on my team and Burkhart will still be on the Marlins, etc.

But we definitely need a "fast sim" through the rest of the season to see if this damn thing will mess up again.

So, it is not as bad as I thought it was.

I think that is a great idea. 2006 seems to be a problem, so lets just get the hell into 2007.

Oh, btw - the advanced option of my suggestion was still fastsimming in one day - just in chat - so ppl there could make injury updates to make it hopefully even closer to the standings we also have now.

If we do that and it is during the day - can you handle my team's injuries?

Also, one other thing that I want to make sure about. Will Chuck tell us about the trade offers that happen on the 31st? What about trades before then?

I think he will need to let us know each time there is an offer or at least turn off the trading option except for the 31st of July or maybe not have it at all.

Call me crazy but I have a bad feeling that "the computer manager" for SD would trade Berkman and/or Burroughs for a bag of baseballs.

Another thing I thought of too, teams that acquired players during the season like me obtaining Berkman or Buck obtaining Huizenga, etc - how is that going to be handled? Will all those players be traded at the beginning of the season or at the trading deadline? If we do those trades at the beginning, it could unfairly cause some teams to start out better than they would have before.
