Mutombo would be a good fit...

I know most of the posters here on the BBS have a certain dislike for Mutombo for whatever reason, but if you think about it he is the perfect Center for the Rockets. He is the best shotblocker in the NBA and he patrols the frontcourt like no other defender. He strikes fear into anyone trying to cut to the lane and score. He can single-handedly change the complexion of a basketball game. With our guards being the mainstay of our offense we need a rugged rebounder and shot-blocker down low and Cato is not that person. Mutombo has recently stated that he wants to finish his career with Philly, but there seems to be a indifference in the length of the contract that will be offered by Philly. Mutombo wants 4 years, while Philly seems to only want to go 2-3 years.

If we cannot steal Webber away from the Kings this offseason, then Mutombo would be a hell of a pick-up. His age (whatever it might be) does not scare me one bit. He is in shape and he gives it his all on the court. Stevie and Cuttino would have a field day with Deke in the middle.

So set aside your dislike for Mt. Mutombo and lets have a contingency plan in place just in case Webber heads to NY.

mo and dikembe are both david falk clients so it might be difficult to find a compromise that fits both of them into hakeem's cap space. falk's gonna try to get as much as he can for both of them.

I'd prefer Hakeem, but Mutombo would be fantastic.

Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
