There is a hard cap and Morey wants another star. Even if CP3 and Melo/other star are willing to take pay cuts, there still isn't much room to pay Capela 20+ million. Ariza is going to get at least 15 million after this season.
wouldn't be so sure about Capela or Ariza getting that much...I don't think Ariza is getting that annual salary on a multi-year deal not many teams will have cap space next summer, and the market will be even drier next summer than it was this offseason the market wasn't kind to RFA's this summer...Noel had to take the qualifying offer, KCP got a 1 year deal, Alex Len took his qualifying offer, and Nikola Mirotic and Jamychal Green have yet to finalize a deal and are still unsigned Capela would really have to blow up to get 20+ mil IMO
Noah has one of the worst (if not THE worst) contracts in the league. If NY could rid themselves of Noah they would easily move Melo and take back Anderson to do it. I don't see a team that would take on Noah. I don't see the Rockets moving Eric Gordon in a Melo package. The net result is meh. I think Gordon WAS available in the pursuit for Paul George, however.
Empathy is about standing in someone else's shoes, feeling with his or her heart, seeing with his or her eyes. Not only is empathy hard to outsource and automate, but it makes the world a better place. Daniel H. Pink @Codman It's absolutely wonderful to see that you're posting again, and please stay strong in your fight. Know that you've got an entire community here that's rooting for you to kick the absolute **** out of that insidious disease!
Codman speaks and we listen. It's a bit of a mystery to me how folks here can assume that when information from someone like Codman doesn't turn out to be true (I apologize, Codman, for using you as an example), it means that he was wrong when he posted it, or even made it up for the "attention." It could simply mean that the team or teams went in another direction. Maybe Morey changed his mind, or the other GM did. Maybe the health of one of the players involved was a borderline issue and the GM chose not to take the risk. Who knows? When every last comma seems to be criticized, it's no wonder that some of our people with connections, however obscure those sources may appear to us, end up keeping what they heard to themselves rather than sharing it with the board. It saves them the on-going aggravation that comes with sharing a rumor you heard, from a source you respect, that doesn't work out. It might not have worked out for a host reasons, but no matter. Some members will still go out of their way to give the guy that passed on what he or she heard a hard time. That could be true for a couple of other members out there that we might enjoy hearing from when they hear something. In my opinion, at any rate.
People need to understand that deals are very fluid at all times. Look no further than Jeff Ludnow and the Houston Astros. Check out the quotes from Ludnow on August 1st and right after the Verlander deal. He talks about how he thought certain deals were done at various times. And for whatever reason it gets blown up. Or in Verlander's case, he thought he had a deal, then the deal was dead, and then it was a done deal. He is the GM of the Astros, who is directly involved in these deals. Sometimes they go through and sometimes they don't. Now compare that with posters who might have legit "sources". This is 2nd or 3rd hand information that they are relaying. The information could be rock solid and true at that point in time. But like actual GM's, things are fluid all of the time. The deal isn't done until it is done. There are posters with legit sources. There is no reason to try burn them at the stakes if something doesn't transpire. Let's be appreciative of how special this board really is.
Just imagine watching someone go to a restaurant for the first time and try to decide what they want to eat. Now imagine that person is trying to decide with 20 million people watching. That's a fraction of what were dealing with here.
Eh. Some people are just too damn lazy to do that. Glad to see you back. I found myself checking in more often just to see if you had posted. Not for info, but for confirmation that you were ok. All the best to you.
I agree. Doc is a fraud. He took his ball and ran away when people didn't give a **** for his cryptic garbage. Codman OTOH is legit. Stop comparing the two. it's like comparing Basketball (legit sport - Cod) to eggball (fraud sport - Doc)
If someone offers him over 20 mil and I'm skeptical of that it won't Be a team that's likely any good. Capela to me has shown he loves it here and as long as the arrow points up in competing I believe he'll stay, so long as he get a respectable raise. If it's a complete insult on Moreys part which I don't expect then yea he could bolt. The 15 per range may do it.
