offense side. Porland and Mav follow the same strtegy. throwing a brick and everyone jump for the rebound, and score.
    Rox should improve.
    1. rebounds and post-denfense.
2.Ming should not pass to anyone at clutch time.

    one morpoint,
CUT MOT OFFF. SEND HIME BACK NOW!!!!!!!!!

Uh, I saw Steve getting picked all night long. If he doesn't get any defensive support on picks, than yes, he won't be able to defend.

Dude, I'd bet you defend him if he murdered someone right in front of you.

Look outside the glass. He had a bad game, at least he didn't force anything.Unlike damn Mooch who let Damon Stoudamire get on fire.

its one game in a series of games with a frustrating trend. the rockets CRUMBLE in close games. hopefully it wont take too many more losses for the rockets to figure out they arent good enough to sit on a double digit lead in the first quarter.

I agree about Mobley he LOST the game HIMSELF. Nobody else did it, everyone else had respectable games. In regard to Francis - I give him MAJOR props for his performance tonight. He realized his shooting wasnt on tonight, so he decided to pass it up instead and had it not been for Mobley we would have won.

First of all, this shouldn't be in its own thread, and second of all, nothing you're saying is new....

Yao should have got 6-7 assists easily if he were palying for a first rate team! He needs some selfishness playing for this team.

The reality is Rox is still a so-so team right now, about the same level as Portland. They had the homecourt edge, so we lost. We are not good enough to win decent teams on their courts, unless we get lucky.

We were almost tie with Portland for rebound and we were way better than them in FG %. So, the only explanation was turnovers and foul calls against, which Portland obviously won by a big margin. :(

Why a point guard could not bring up the ball to pass the half court and defeat the 8 seconds violation is beyond me.

Just a bad, bad offensive effort tonight. Jimmy Jackson and Yao played an excellent first quarter, but besides that noone really brought their "A" offensive game. When/If our offense ever catches up to our defense, we would be downright scary. It was a tough loss to take, but I think it could be something to build on.

There's only one 'for-sure' on this team, and he measures about 7'5.

Francis... okay, he stopped shooting once he couldn't hit. That was good. However, he made lots of needless errors too. Lost the dribble once in clutch time, and also couldn't dribble the ball out of the 8 second violation. He can't beat the press.

Is Yao ever going to learn how to REBOUND? 7'6" and he's not even averaging a full 10 rebounds a game. Don't give me this 9.9 rpg bullcrap. All the greats from the past, David Robinson, Shaq, Alonzo, and even Ewing got like 12-13 rpg in their ROOKIE seasons and they all give up about 5-6 inches on Yao. On sheer height alone he should be getting 11-12 rebounds per game, 14-15rpg with effort added in. If Eric Dampier can average 15 rebounds a game being less than 7 feet tall, and Ben Wallace can average 15 rpg at 6'9" I think Yao should at least come close to that. I thin kthe problem is he's too afraid to bump people out of the paint to get the damn rebound.

it's one game of the same crap all over again. horrible TO's, poor decision-making, lack of composure down the line, and lack of any interior offense and over-dependence on the 3 pt line.

and crappy shooting and even crappier rebounding didn't help.

i know it's just one game, and i know it's still early in the season. but golly gee whiz, i mean, if you don't learn from your mistakes sooner than later, you ain't gonna succeed. it's a little disturbing, to say the least.

Offensively, Rockets are killing themselves. I hope they continue to be consistent with their defense until the offense kicks in. Piatkowski will be a sight for sore eyes. Yao was doing well until they started doubling and the perimeter game became nonexistent. If only Mobley or Francis had their game tonite, it would have been lights out for Portland.

That was ugly. So many 8-seconds violations! Are the Rockets guards even professional players? They just crumble when pressured.
