ESPN Facebook poll doesn't even list Harden as a top 5 player.

I keep seeing everyone dismissing draymond as a top 10 player...

I don't get it. I hate the guy but he is an absolute magician on defense. He is shane battier on steroids who is also strong enough to defend the post.

His rotations and defensive iq is phenomenal.

Couple that with his vision and facilitating, he leads the team in assists every year(from the front court position), it's obvious he is a great player.

He cant really create his own shot or go off the dribble, but his entire well rounded game with elite aspects shows he's one of the best in the league.

Again, I hate the guy, but he does deserve his respect. He is the engine for that team and without him they aren't nearly as dominant.

A top 10 player should be able to carry a team to a winning record. If Green was your best player, do you think he could carry a team to even 30 wins?

I can't co-sign Draymond Green as a top 10 player. Nobody would ever want him as the best player on their team, and he benefits greatly from playing on that GS squad. ESPN basically said that Draymond Green is only 2 spots away from being as good as James Harden. Hell nah.

Both Westbrook and Harden should be mad. They should be in the top 4 at a minimum. Draymond Green a top 10 player? WTF? He could never lead a team like Westbrook or Harden did. He's a glue guy at best, not a leader. I'd take Boogie Cousins over him anyday and Cousins hasn't played for a playoff team yet. I'd rather have Embiid or Aldridge or even Lillard. I think it would be easy to come up with 29 better players than Draymond overall. His defense is amazing, but it's highlighted by who is on his team. That team plays well together.

You mean as a option to pick? Or the results?

i'd say even his defense is overhyped when factoring in the *very* friendly officiating he receives as a member of GSW. he would not get away with even 10% of the BS he pulls if on any other team. knee in the ass on post D, knee in the nuts on recovery, elbows, moving screens, push in the back on rebs, etc. etc,

dwight would foul out the first 4 min of any game trying to play "draymond D"

Yeah the top 4 don't change too much. They are who they are.

    harden/WB have a case for 5/6

    These are pretty accurate rankings

Draymond Green I could see near the top 15 of players. A Top 10 guy would be the main dude on your team; he'd carry your team to the playoffs by himself in the East and at least nearly get there in the West.

The Draymond thing bothers me very little since SI was at least bright enough to put Harden top 5. ESPN is obviously controlled more by corporate drones who hand out talking points to all their on-air "talent": hype these guys.

This is why SI news don't get nearly as much reaction. They use a less random generator. BSPN on the other hand mastered the art of trolling and getting responses.

He's also the league leader at crushing nut sacks. Very underrated player, imo.

    Yeah sure do.

    Elite elite defender
Good distributor, even better considerring it's from the front court
High bball IQ both offensively and especially defensively
    Solid efficiency

He's better than Davis that's for sure and would lead his own team to more victories then Davis has, Kylie do, love did etc...

Leading a team by yourself isn't easy, those that do and are really good at it, harden, lebron, etc are very special

    I accept this challenge.

First, you name all these players who carry a team to a winning record. And you didn't just say best player of a each winning teams, you said carries them

Name them. No theories. Name them. Current players who have carried a team to .500 who you'd pick over Green.

I'll accept Curry and Durant as ex MVPs despite any pesky technicalities that they had Top 25 help.

Challenge accepted. Name those players and I'll respond

You too. Name these solo acts who have carried a team to a winning record who you think should still be ranked higher than Green, today.

Name them. Let's stop with the theoretical shlt. Most winning teams have no clear solo star who carries them, so you are talking in theory probably.. Many of these solo players you have in mind haven't actually carried anyone to a winning record. I mean, Davis, Love, Cousins, Kyrie, KAT ... etc. Name these solo acts like Harden who achieved winning success. They are out there sure, but list them

Not that it was directed at me but here's my list.

    Lebron
    Durant
    Harden
    Kawhi
    Giannis

That's who I believe for sure by themselves no other stars and just average to below average role players could be a playoff team

I think there is another handful or so that could lead teams to winning records or at least 500

There is no "could be". The exercise is have they done it. I'm asking because the statement "a Top 10 player should be able to carry a team to a winning record" sounds so certain, but in fact it is just theoretical. Because there just are not that many players that have actually done it as a solo star, who you'd currently rank ahead of Green. We aren't talking about how many old players who've done throughout history...we are talking about a Top 10 list of current players.

And from your list, Giannis just barely broke even in the East at 42-40. I think it is fair to include any recent MVPs like Durant, Curry and WB too, whether they were solo or not. I think it's fair to throw in 67 and 61 win players like Kashi, too. The list still doesn't get too big. It's not a common criteria that gets met, making it more a way to eliminate guys like the Davis, Love, Irving, KAT and Cousins than some criteria that actually hurts Green much.

    Make sense?

A Steph Curry as the main playmaker vs. Harden who has more wins? Harden. Steph Curry is a role player. Yes I said it, maybe the best role player out there but a role player. He does what he does because he is in GS. If a team built a defense around him he would get stopped, he would tire out also. I don't see him in top 10.

I think the argument Dreymond Green is more valuable is an accurate statement.

Giannis barely did it. But he did do it even tho its the east. They did good in the playoffs. But he's more on the cusp than actually proving it

Durant did albeit he had talent he was still "the guy"

Westbrook also just did it last year.

Lebron has done better than anyone not named Hakeem taking a team by himself.

Kawhi has done it multiple times.

Harden has done it multiple times.

Dirk has done it ages ago.

    Dwight did it ages ago.

    Wade did it ages ago.

    Carmelo did it ages ago.

Only the 6 I listed have done it and still could do it. 5 if you want to wait on giannis for more proof.
