I remember seeing a pretty long thread on cell phone companies (with everyone's good and bad experiences), but IIRC... most people were talking about Sprint, Cingular, AT&T, Verizon, etc. I don't remember hearing much about Nextel. I'm looking into a new phone plan, and here are the things that seem kinda cool about Nextel: - unlimited Walkie Talkie minutes (good for other folks w/ Nextel) - free nights/weekends (like everyone else) - kick-ass corporate discount that makes an otherwise pricey phone a little more affordable Anyone use Nextel? How do you like it?
I don't really like the Walkie Talkie thing when trying to have a real conversation. It's good for the quick "Where are you?" calls, but in a real conversation it gets old quick. Also, the unlimited walkie talkie minutes is not true for all their plans. Finally, it's been about three months since I looked at their plans, but they were more exspensive for comperable Anytime minute plans.
I have the i95cl and love it. The wlakie talkie feature is great for me although I use it mostly for work to contact offices outside of Omaha. My plan is unlimited walkie talkie and 1000 min {free nights and weekends} for $59 a month although my company pays for it.
Sprint just recently unveiled their push-to-talk service. I don't know much about it since it is new.
We have some Sprint "Push to Talk" demos here at the office, and I think they're great. Yes, there is some delay on the "Push to Talk" feature, but the phones we're demoing have Internet, a Large On screen display, and very long battery life (however no camera). If you live in West Texas Sprint PCS is the way to go. Nextel only covers the Amarillo, Lubbock, and Midland/ Odessa metros and basically areas right along the major freeways. Looking at their coverage map go anywhere towards New Mexico (ie: Levelland) or to the east of those cities and you're toast. I've been to small West Texas cities, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Cleveland, and Harrisburg with my Sprint PCS Phone and they only place I've had trouble is Harrisburg. Cingular is horribly spotty out here, and there's no Verizon or T-Mobile.
I really don't comprehend this push to talk stuff. Get verizions unlimited mobile to mobile and talk real time?
