How can Mobley get player of the week, when Francis is the leader of this team? This is bad strategy by Rudy and selfishness on the part of Cuttino.

Freak, I have a feeling your the only one that cares about that. The W's are probaly a little more important at this point then whose team it is. Congrats to Cat.

good call...but, RockenRam5, Clutch has a rule that you don't get "scoop" honors on the front page if you use more than 10 exclamation points in your scoop title.

    Yeah for Cuttino!!! [IMG]
How did Steve's stats stack up against Cat's? (notice my alliteration [IMG]) I thought Steve had a triple double this week, why no honors for him?

Don't know, but I'm betting Tim Duncan, Jason Kidd and Allen Iverson must have asked themselves the same question then when Derek Anderson, Shawn Marion and Aaron McKie all won the very same award.

But good for you TheFreak for equating this weekly award with being the leader of the team.

    And lastly, congrats Cuttino...

Third-year guard helps Houston to 3-0 week
    Rockets' Mobley Has Marquee Week
NEW YORK, March 19 -- Houston Rockets guard Cuttino Mobley today was named NBA Player of the Week for games played Monday, March 12 through Sunday, March 18.
Mobley led the Rockets to a 3-0 record while averaging 27.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.33 steals and recording three double-doubles. Here is a look at Mobley's week:

Tuesday vs. Indiana: Scored 27 points while grabbing 10 rebounds as the Rockets defeated the visiting Indiana Pacers in triple-overtime, 127-118. Tied Charles Barkley for a franchise record by playing in a career-high 58 minutes while extending the Rockets' record versus the Central Division to a perfect 15-0 this season.

Thursday vs. New Jersey: Set a season-high and tied a career-high with 11 assists against the Nets. Also recorded 30 points in the Rockets' 108-106 win over New Jersey.

Saturday vs. San Antonio: Scored 26 points while grabbing a team-leading 10 rebounds in the Rockets' 103-99 win over San Antonio, which snapped the Spurs' longest winning streak of the season at nine games.

Other candidates for NBA Player of the Week were Boston's Paul Pierce, Charlotte's Jamal Mashburn, Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki, Miami's Cedric Ceballos and Phoenix's Jason Kidd.

    Cedric Ceballos?? He's still alive?

Like I said before, asking a guard in his early 20s to be a leader is asking to much. People who are asking Francis to be a leader, a guy who only has a year and a half of experience, are asking for trouble. The Rockets right now are playing as a team, that is why they are winning. Francis AND Mobley are sharing the leadership role. Saying Francis is the leader is asking him to take a role that Michael Jordan, and Hakeem Olajuwon have to take and that is asking to much. Francis is the most TALENTED player, but he is not the leader. This team doesn't truly have an individual leader yet if ever.

Great! I'm glad Cuttino is finally getting recognition.

On a diffrent note, thefreak's original post cracked me up, and trying not to laugh while at work just got harder when I read the guy's post who got mad at him [IMG].

Hasn't this happened before? Maybe you should use more smilies ;P

Despite winning the NBA's Player of the Week, Mobley only won Clutch's highly coveted Rockin'designation once in the three games the NBA recognized him for. Moochie won the first, Cat the second, and Francis the third.

    Rocksmillenium,

Francis is as much a leader as anybody in this league. If you were as close as I am, and got to hear the little things that aren't picked up by TV, you would know what I mean. Suttle things like "cmon, let's go to work." Before the Spurs game he was all business. He did not even acknowledge any of the Spurs players.I like seeing that.Nowadays you see alot of stars laughing and joking around after losses, but I gurantee you, you won't see that from Steve or Cat.

I agree on the point that he is not THE leader of this team.He and Cuttino are the leaders. They lead and the rest of the team follows. They are both vocal,Cat to a greater extent, and Steve is more of a leader in the sense of how he plays.

O, and way to go Cat!
