Why did Hamels veto a deal a couple of years ago?

If he's stupid enough to nix the deal to come to a serious contender, dude doesn't have what it takes to win anyhow. Glad we lost out on him even though I was a huge fan of getting him.

What a complete waste of time if you're the Astros. Why would Detroit even engage if he wasn't going to waive? Such bs.

Props to the front office. You did what was needed this time. That would have been a great trade.

    F Verlander.

It doesn't make sense they've talking on and off with the tigers for 2 months. He wasted the astros and his own teams time.

He must have rejected it because of Harvey ?

F Verlander. This team and city could have used the boost.

You'd think they would have asked Verlander at the begining of all this if he would waive his no trade... not work everything out and then ask..

That would be my guess. Hurricane season isn't over BTW. There are tons of ruined places to live and hang out. It will be a headache to move into a city that just experienced the worst natural disaster on US soil. Ton's on pressure to win too.

In the end it was his choice.

Meanwhile, we have Melo ONLY waiving his trade if he comes here and we cant get that to happen either. Houston is just cursed man...
