Hard to fault her sentiment. I've seen a lot of people just decline the interview when they're initially approached, is probably best. She just put the onus on the reporter to leave while she was still talking to her, which is mixed signals. jUst kept ramping up the aggressiveness until she forced it.
I was in one of those subdivisions pulling people out of boats. I can assure you it didn't go down until that time.
Up until the last few readings, Addicks had been trending down a bit, but we're talking a few hundreds of a foot. Those kinds of differences can be due to the prevailing wind pushing the surface water against one side or the other of the reservoir. I think the larger takeaway is that a quick glance at the graph shows that the rising levels are certainly tapering off. It's been mostly flat for a few hours.
I went out and checked several roads that were listed as closed or that allegedly had high water and most that I found had cleared up. I think I'll try to head out tomorrow fairly early and see if I can make the trip.
Yeah, now instead of the effects of rain + drainage + release, it's drainage + release .... hopefully in the next couple of days we'll just see the effects of "release". Man, I feel bad for those people near these things or near any of those overflow areas.
Wanted to ask if someone could shed some light. My parents had to leave their car in a flooded street on saturday night and we went back this morning due to flood on sunday couldnt go. we went today and the car was not there?... contacted the police and insurance but to no avail. said to try tomorrow is there anything we can do?
Good job. Couldn't remember the website, but knew there was one. Which makes me the equivalent of conversational blue balls.
Shut it coldplay haters. Their live song tonight in concert about Houston and their thoughts...that was ****ing cool.
http://www.chron.com/sports/texas-s...er-Houston-hosts-not-sticking-to-12109396.php Great article about Matt Thomas and his storm coverage a lot of us listened to. It was manic.
That's good news. After this is over, the powers that be need to do a major overhaul of the Addicks/Barker flood control system. This was very close to a staggering disaster due to Addicks failing, in my opinion. An earthen dam simply can't take being over topped for very long. The berm becomes unstable due to pressure and water seepage, with the water pouring over it wearing the berm down. A major collapse can follow. This was posted in D&D and folks here should know about it: READ THIS!
I tried to get to San Antonio last night/ this morning and I-10 was flooded at Grand Parkway. Not sure if it has reopened. I had to backtrack to 249 and go to College Station instead. It took me 9 1/2 hours to get from Dickinson to College Station she to flooded streets. Thank God for Matt Thomas, we were messaging all night until 4:00 am when I went on his show. He helped me find safe passage for my family and a family that we rescued.
Remember news saying 290 is best bet, part of 71 is flooded, but you might be able to hack together a path. But yeah 290 best bet.
Beaumont is getting absolutely hammered tonight. The news really should shift to that area right now.
