Stone Temple Pilots was most definitely not anywhere as good at their end in comparison to their beginning. After 'Tiny Music'... nearly everything was purely crap IMO. Their only really solid albums were Core and Purple.

Their best effort was Purple, but I actually liked Tiny Music. I can see why people hated it though. It was a major departure from their first two albums.

It's a shame STP's finished. It seems like every band I really liked in the 90's has either broken up(usually for drug-related reasons) or sucks so bad now that I don't even bother listening to them(*cough* Live *cough*). God I hate the music industry today.

This is sad news. Their first 2 albums (which are the only ones I own) are awesome.

Here's hoping that Weiland can get some help for his problem.

I have to disrespectfully disagree. STP could have continued pumping out Purple(s) ad nauseum like most band nowadays would've -- instead they chose to develop their sound. #4 and Shangri are full some of the best hooks this side of classic Aerosmith. They're pop-rock at its best.

I'm sorry to see it end on such a sour note. Stp was one of my favorite bands and one of the best live shows I've ever seen (2002 w/Aerosmith). However, those of us who have been following them since inception are glad it lasted ias long as it did.

PS.....and just for theFreak (I think your were the huge Black Crowes fan), rumor has it the DeLeo's are collaborating with Chris Robinson. I got this off their message baord so I don't how valid it is but this is hardly the first time it has been rumored.

If it was true, it would kick complete, and total ass.-

Stone Cold - that would be BrianKagy. Jeff, RM95, and Finn* are pretty big fans too, I think. I like them okay.

I'm sad to hear this news, STP is probably my second or third favorite band of all time. I saw them live just over a year ago, and they were awesome; best concert I've ever been to.

There greatest hits album is called Thank You, and it came out November 11. If you get it, I would recommend paying the extra $5-10 for the version that includes the DVD with several hours of videos and concert footage.

Well said Chump! I saw that and I had to listen to the song.

Damn it though! I love STP and they're one of my top 5 favorite bands. I love Weiland's voice and damn him for being such a screwup. They really are one of the better rock bands of the 90s.

oh well... no surprise, given Weiland's inability to stay on the wagon for even a minute. :( In tribute, part of my favorite STP song:

So turn it up and burn it
There's a hole in your head
There's a hole in your head
Where the birds can't sing along

Does anybody know how the story really goes
Or do we all just hum along

Nice one Isabel. That's probably my favorite album of theirs.

Also always liked "Meatplow" and "Silvergun Superman".

But I think Velvet Revolver will be much better.

Meatplow and Superman Silvergun are definitely some of STP's best songs, and two of the more underrated.

"Still Remains" could possibly be my favorite, as well as "Seven Caged Tigers" from their 3rd album. "Big Bang Baby" ranks among the top as well.
