Obviously more than what Ryan Anderson is worth and can get you, which is really sad and why we have this problem in the first place. Judging from the news it seems like the Rockets and Knicks have already agreed to send Melo here. That's why the articles are saying both teams might be waiting on camp. The third team might be the real hold up and we might be trying to showcase someone that can be included in the deal. Maybe onuaku or a new a Rookie. The third team might want to see how well the guy does against other NBA players. Uhg this is so frustrating.

 

Well it is definitely a good sign. Media questions to melo on the 1st day of training camp are going to be awkward

I think the Knicks over-value Melo. More specifically, his contract. He is a good player, better than Ryno. His contract is poor, if not worse.

$54M over 2 years - Not many teams have room, but can trade 2 or 3 players to make room.

ETO, 2nd yr is $28M - Meaning he can leave if HE wants. Hard for a team to plan anything if $28M may or may not be in the budget.

No Trade Clause - Has to be honored by the team that takes him. If he sucks, you just can't trade him away, even if you take a loss.

One reason Cavs got a good return is because Isaiah Thomas' contract is expiring. Cavs wanted more of a guarantee.
Same would be true with Melo. No guarantee he will stay, so Rockets should expect the Knicks to either give up more, or accept less.
Ryno for Melo might be = value if contracts are considered.

 

That's a reasonable hypothesis actually. The Mills tweet is a good sign and neither the Rockets, the Knicks, nor Melo seem to be ridiculously impatient about the pace of this. I hope you're right and the only thing that's holding this up is strong-arming a third team into sending something NY's way that they like.
