I'm hoping Houston doesn't get hit too hard, but I'm ready just in case next time I won't try to get supplies at the last minute...there were a million people in the stores like there were Black Friday deals going on
Some dude named Brock. https://www.fema.gov/leadership The latest Euro has this thing heading our way as a secondary landfall after a major impact on the Corpus Christi area. Don't buy too much into that right now as that is very far ahead. Just to give you an idea of what we are dealing with above is the euro for Tuesday. This is a marathon and we will be dealing with this thing for days to come. This is why they have been stressing the flooding threat above anything else. With a system this close for this long we could see some areas get a ton of rain. As far as the wind threat on any secondary landfall. No one knows. These models are prone to large errors and intensity is very very hard to predict.
Hope our friends and relatives in Houston are OK, along with the rest of you. I've heard that it's going to get very, very wet. Even in Austin. Stay safe and consider getting a canoe. I remember paddling in a canoe down streets in the Montrose area on the way home during an epic flood sometime in the '70's. It was fun. The destruction to a bunch of concert memorabilia stored in the garage under my upstairs pad was not. Stay safe.
Worst part about Allison was that we lost Randy Johnson. Behave yourselves, and the worst that'll happen is you'll get your house flooded. Nobody with common sense will die.
Harvey has really intensified the last 12 hours. 50% wind increase and 5000% rain. Slow moving too, damn.
I haven't made it to the store yet. I'm waiting til 6:30AM since I won't be able to buy alcohol til 7:00 (presuming some is left).
It's bombed overnight and is down to 953 mb on recon. Let's hope this rapid intensification stops. Bad news for Corpus area where this makes landfall.
the good news should we lose power, the highs for the next 5 days should be in the very low 80s, topping out at 82.
Thinking of taking my car and parking it on the 2nd level at one of the parking garages at Memorial City Mall later today and taking an Uber back home to ride out the storm...think it'll get towed?
I wish everyone here in h-town a happy hurricane day. I'm thankful enough that I have a generator in case power goes out. I also have 10 packs of pizza rolls and 30 gallons of green tea. My body is ready. #ClutchCityNeverDies
I went to Randalls yesterday (thankfully, they were out of water, so the store was only partially crazy), and bought two briskets. The first one is just about done (Big Green egg.........can only do one at a time). I'm not sure what all of the panic'd moms in the checkout line thought of my purchase.
