I didn't say it in "opinion form"? Everything I say is MY OPINION. Everything anyone writes here is their opinion unless they are expressing information about a past, verifiable fact. Do I need to write the words ... "In my opinion" .... just to make you feel better?

In any event, I watch because I love watching basketball. Even if I somehow knew the outcome of basketball games, I would still want to know how a team won and want to see it happen. Let me ask you... if you knew for a fact right now that Houston will be crowned 17-18 NBA Champions, would you still watch the games this season? I would! When you are watching an exciting movie and start to realize how the movie will end, do you immediately turn off the TV? I don't... I like the journey as much as the outcome! In the 90s I knew Jordan's Bulls were going to win. I still watched! I bet you did too.

What is your real beef with my opinion? Do you disagree? Do you believe a Melo trade to HOU beats Stephen, Durant, Klay, Draymond, Igudola, and the boys in Cali? Tell me why. But, at least for me, you needn't preface your opinion with "In my opinion", because I know it's your opinion. No more superior or inferior than my own.

I didn't mean to annoy. I am just saying what reason/evidence/facts tell me. I bleed Red all day and would love to see Melo suit up with us.

I just think that if he does come to Houston it's because of something we cannot measure sufficiently by reason or facts. For example, we cannot measure the strength of his fondness to play with CP3. If that is something he won't budge from, our chances of landing him are high. That's just not something I can easily measure.

Again, just saying my thoughts. I am fairly new here and certainly don't want to wear out my welcome so soon.

This is what I don't get. U said that u don't think that Love would be traded for Melo, so what is Melo's role and minutes situation going to be like with Lebron soaking up most of the minutes at the 3 and a PF in Love still on the roster? U don't think that Melo would be asking that same question? There is a clear role for Melo on our team as the starting PF. Also, Lebron being non-committal is a huge factor that u seem to be brushing aside. We have far more evidence for why Lebron might leave Cleveland than for why he might stay. The Cavs just downgraded from Kyrie to IT who is still recovering from a hip injury, is 3 years older than Kyrie, and is about to be a free agent. Lebron will be a free agent. Rose will be a free agent. If they got Wade, he'd be a free agent too. Melo can't even be sure of who will be on the team after next season.

Melo has been solely focused on Houston for weeks. That is for a reason. He crossed Cleveland off his list. He did that for a reason.

We can get an idea of the strength of his fondness to play with CP3. His list during the regular season was the Clippers and Cavs, Houston was nowhere to be found. Once CP3 came to Houston, the Rockets all of the sudden catapaulted to the top of his list

All good points. At this late hour I will respond in bullet point form:

    1) Love and Melo sharing the same position is an issue that leads away from a Melo trade to CLE. And I think Melo has thought about that. And yet, even with that issue, Melo long ago expressed interest in Cleveland. According to reports, he has renewed his interest in Cleveland. This tells me that he sees potential there even with the Love issue. Bottom line is Houston remains his favorite spot, but if Houston cannot get it done, he has shown a willingness to go to CLE.

    2) I understand your evidence that LeBron will leave, and I understand you think Melo will be convinced to go elsewhere. I hope you are right. But I think Melo will look at Cleveland's pieces and decide it is attractive and agree to a trade there, despite those issues (which are not insignificant) because Houston cannot get it done. We may have a clear role for him, but (1) CLE has the assets to get him, and (2) HOU does not, at least not yet.

    3) I have already told you that I think he crossed the previous CLE team off his list. I think this one is back on.

    Lets see what happens

You make a decent amount of logical sense. But then you realize as currently built (perhaps wade and Melo would change the dynamic, I doubt it though) A one more year older Lebron, Kevin love, and 5'9" Thomas are not going to beat the Warriors. If that happens Lebron loses in the Finals 4 out of last 5 years, the guy may have a meltdown. He would also be 3-6 in the Finals total.

At this point Lebron may put out a hit on Curry and Durant being a nuclear option.

I think its pretty telling the knicks new media guide featured 3 players and none were melo. Hardly treating him like their franchise player. The knicks front office is so ignorant its comical. Melo isn't worth anything in trade considering he can pick and choose where he wants to go, so instead they're gonna bring a toxic asset into camp. Even clev decided they wanted no distractions and traded kyrie away. The knicks are just such a poorly run franchise its hilarious. I see Melo caring even less if thats even possible, he might just be a carefree chucker this season, even moreso than before and force the knicks to deal him

What reports said that he has renewed interest in Cleveland? Are u talking about that recent article from Marc Berman? That was an opinion piece. This is what that article said...

"When the Cavaliers talked to the Knicks about Kyrie Irving, Cleveland brass had no interest in discussing Carmelo Anthony. Kristaps Porzingis was their lone focus.

Whether that changes after the blockbuster trade that sent Irving to the Celtics, with the Cavaliers emerging with more assets than anyone imagined, remains to be seen. As does whether Anthony, who has a no-trade clause, will have renewed interest in playing with LeBron James — even if it is for one season."

that is him just wondering about what might happen...he said it remains to be seen if Melo will have renewed interest, not that he officially had renewed interest

We don't know if Houston can't get it done. Training camp is still weeks away. Like Morey said, deadlines make deals, and the start of training camp is the 1st deadline that we have coming up. How do u know that NY isn't holding off as long as they can to try and squeeze out more value and as training camp approaches they get serious about completing a deal with us? There is no pressure for NY to accept a deal from us right now.

Gasol is disgruntled and wants out of Memphis. It's opportunity come a knocking... A guy that is already an All Star, fully developed and can play at a high level to compliment Harden and Paul vs Melo which is a redundancy not needed and maybe a distraction from actual good team play.

Even if the Grizzlies did look to trade Gasol, we can't beat a Cavs offer.. Ryno/Capela isn't as nice as Thompson/Nets draft pick, then consider we're a division rival as well.

I really doubt they'd give up that pick for him. It'd be shocking actually.

Edit: Never mind. I thought that was on offer for Anthony. Though it might be a lot to give up for Gasol even.

That's incredibly wishful thinking, the cavs downgraded their roster for today to upgrade it in the future, from a 3 years from now situation, yeah their situation is better, for lebron's window? nah.

As for Lebron, the way its been portrayed is that his situation with ownership is unsalvageable, never really said much about the roster.

A lot can change in a year. I don't know where Lebron ends up. But I do think this whole riff between Lebron and ownership is calculated. When a guy leaves a team on his own accord there usually always is a "bad" guy. Lebron wants Dan Gilbert to be that guy if he leaves the second time around. Not saying there isn't bad blood between the two. I just don't think Lebron actually feels he can no longer play for them because of it. If anything he's able to belittle them by calling the shots.

i think that if DWade is going to Cleveland, Paul will join them next year. I'd really wanna know what was in CPs head when he heard the Irving trade rumors..."If I would stay another week or 2 maybe I would be on CLE roster right now." IMO CLE have best odds to assemble the banana boat team but who cares, we still have Harden and if he produce another MVP-type season that will be a strong magnet for FA to come next summer.

Where is Cleveland getting this money from? They're at 129 million right now... they'll be at 114 next year when IT, Green, etc come off the books. I'm right there with you as far as him being intrigued... I just want to know how they're going to sign him to a super max via free agency? They'd have to make a million moves
