Melo going to Cleveland means he for sure knows LBj is staying....or he thinks if he goes there and they start winning, it will entice lebron to staying?

Very very far fetched and risky move by melo which means there's a 5% chance he goes there.
Dwade on the other hand makes more sense going there.

Wait.....what?? I.....don't even know where to begin. Did you just seriously suggest that the Rockets would be happy to take IT (oh, and pay him his max deal) and Derrick freaking Rose for Chris Paul??? That makes literally no sense. Cleveland can be "set" on getting him all they want....the Rockets definitely would not trade him, and if they did, it would be for a ****-ton more than IT and Rose. Chris Paul is a Rocket for as long as James Harden is. That's just the way it is.

Also, what you posted was NOT realistic. It was a worst case scenario that has very, VERY little likelihood of actually happening.

The Cavs are not trading the BKN pick for a 33 year old Carmelo Anthony

That BK pick shouldn't even be mentioned in any Melo trade because NY would never get it. Melo's value is nowhere close to being worth a potential top 5 pick in the 2018 draft, let's be real. Plus, that is Cleveland's only insurance in case Lebron leaves. U think that Cleveland would ever give that up for a 33 yo Melo? It's not happening.

If Love isn't going anywhere, then why would Melo be so enticed by Cleveland? Lebron is at the 3, and Love is at the 4. Those are Melo's positions. Plus, there is still a ton of uncertainty there. Lebron is still non-commital. IT, Rose, and Wade if they got him would be free agents. Melo can't even be sure who he'd be playing with next season if he went to Cleveland.

Cavs could do way better than that if they elect to trade the brooklyn pick

What part of my post was not realistic? That LeBron may want to stay after the changes Cleveland has made? That Wade will likely join Cleveland when bought out? That Melo will start seeing Cleveland as a potential landing spot, given the upgrades it has made, and also the dimming prospects of Houston being able to pull the deal? We will have to agree to disagree, but I think each one of these conclusions are entirely realistic. Now, I agree that Chris Paul is likely not being traded (I said that the first time), but you never know with these Rockets (see Ryan Anderson contract). Regardless of CP3, the rest of this is legit.

I have no idea what you mean by "worst case scenario." I am not trying to tell you what I want or don't want, or what benefits the Rox or not. I am trying to tell you what I think is most likely.

and if Melo ever knew for sure that Lebron was staying then he would've never crossed them off his list

Do y'all remember when Melo met with Lebron in Cabo earlier this summer? I have no doubt he asked Lebron about whether he was planning to stay in Cleveland long-term, and I doubt Lebron said "yes."

Lebron left D-Wade coming off 4 straight trips to the finals, so I think that Melo knows that Lebron could easily leave him too.

Good point about Love... I do think Cleveland could part with the BKN pick, but I see your point there too. I guess what I am seeing with Cleveland is more options and more possibilities to land Melo if they want to.

I agree that Cleveland has a few more possibilities to land Melo now that they have Crowder as a potential asset, and I also believe that they can now trade their own 2018 pick since they also have the 2018 BK pick. However, I have yet to see reasons for why Melo will all of the sudden be dying to go there. They just got crossed off of his list, and then they downgraded from Kyrie to a still recovering IT, and they added Crowder. Lebron is still non-committal. Is that supposed to make Melo excited? Cleveland could part with the BK pick, but it would never be for Melo. That would be the dumbest move any team made this summer by far.

How about this for a reason: Long ago, he made clear that Cleveland and Houston were his top choices. Don't you think that he could find his way to Cleveland because Houston just cannot get it done? Or do you think he would go to another team?

Cavs are not going to try for Anthony... They took the BKN pick to rebuild when Lebron leaves after this year.

I don't see how the Cavs can offer anything better than what we could put together for Melo.. Unless they're wanting to make a lateral move by moving Love for Melo, but that doesn't make them any better.

At 1 point they were his top 2 choices, and then he completely crossed Cleveland off his list. He didn't even wait and see what Cleveland would get back for Kyrie before crossing them off. He became solely focused on Houston for a reason. Melo knows that this could take awhile. Training camp is still several weeks away. Like Morey said, deadlines make deals. Melo has 1st hand experience with this. Back in 2011, I remember talks about a deal between the Nuggets and Knicks being reported around November or December. Melo didn't get traded until right before the trade deadline in February.

Look at the Kyrie deal. Woj said that Cleveland couldn't find a deal that they liked, and they had been working the phones for weeks. Then like a day or 2 after Woj says that, Kyrie gets traded. We'll have to see what happens, but Melo crossed Cleveland off his list for a reason.
