Only Shaq better than him if you don't count TD as a center Shaq: 12 games, 37.1 mins, 21.4 pts, 11.5 rbs, 1.9 blks, 55.6% FG, 47.4% FT Yao: 11 games, 34.4 mins, 16.3 pts, 9.9 rbs, 2.5 blks, 48% FG, 75.4% FT no others come close to these two
Looks like Shaq has been working on his free throws over the summer You could have made the case for Yao even last season too -G'day-
Also, Laker has been playing all offensive game with so many hall-of-fame-to-be. It is misleading just comparing their stats, which does not reflect much of the defence, double team, assist, etc.
Actually can we say that there are only 2 TRUE centres in nba and yao ranks number 2. LOL I still think Yao can do much better than that.
Dampier 10 games, 34.4 mins, 12.3 points, 14.3 rebs, 1.9 blks, 50% fg, 52.3 ft I think his numbers are close to Yao's.. though Yao is apparently a better player than Dampier.
Yao the 2nd best center in the league? No way man! In my opinion, Shawn Bradley is better than Yao(*I'M SAYING THIS SERIOUSLY*).
And we ALL know that John Amaechi is the third best center in the league. Jeff Van Gundy's secret weapon.
What's with your obsession for Amaechi? You mention him once in every two posts. We all know he's damn good -- no need to repeat that.
Bull****! You mean that WEEDY MANTIS!!!Dude,he is so lucky not to disjunct his arms or legs off till now ! Probably he is better than a cockroach.
You know, I had been disappointed with Yao's play this year, but these numbers are pretty damn good, especially in this offense. I had hoped Yao would average 18 pts / 10 rebounds / 2 blocks /3 assists, and he's pretty close to that already.
From Nba.com Erick Dampier, Warriors Averages: 11.8 points, 14.7 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 2.00 blocks Breakdown: One of the biggest surprises of the 2003-04 season, Dampier is on pace to average the first double-double of his career. Simply unstoppable on the boards this year, Dampier currently ranks No. 1 in the league in rebounding. Vlade Divac, Kings Averages: 12.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 0.90 blocks Breakdown: Possibly the best low-post passer in the game, Divac is the undisputed leader of the talented Kings. Serbian big man played for the 2001 Western Confernce All-Star team. Has highest career assists average (3.0) of all active centers. Brad Miller, Kings Averages: 12.2 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.70 blocks Breakdown: Everyone knew this physical big man could defend and rebound, but since joining the up-tempo Kings, Miller has shown he can pass and shoot as well. While with the Pacers, made the 2003 Eastern Conference All-Star squad. NenĂª, Nuggets Averages: 11.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.44 blocks Breakdown: Brazilian big man is the only player in the league who goes by one name after getting rid of last name (Hilario) in the offseason. Has very quick hands (averaging 1.67 steals) to go with size and athleticism. Shaquille O'Neal, Lakers Key stats: 21.4 points, 12.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.40 blocks Breakdown: Lakers big man has been named an All-Star in 10 of his 11 seasons, and has started the All-Star Game six times. Arguably the most dominant player in the game, O'Neal stands above the competition when it comes to manning the pivot. Yao Ming, Rockets Averages: 15.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.50 blocks Breakdown: One of the game's most popular players, Yao started the 2003 All-Star Game as a rookie. Rapidly developing into one of the league's top centers, this 7-6 Houston center has court vision and a great shooting touch to go with his height.
I agree 100%, 4 Yao this is just the start & no im not a Yao-Only lover i just belive his numbers can and will improve over time
Who cares this? I would have look at it at the end of this year. While I will cheer this after they can go for Finals.
Pray the bascketball Gods don't smite you with flaming bascketballs from the great hardwood in the sky for uttering such vile speech!
I agree .. Shaq is number one out of sheer dominance, and Yao gets number 2 because of the great skills he possesses. Yao will only get better and better and hopefully he will be as dominant and unstoppable as Shaq is today.
