Following up on his earlier report that the Portland Trail Blazers were interested in acquiring the 33-year-old from the Knicks, ESPN senior writer and NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski appeared on the Ryen Russillo Show Friday morning to discuss the rumors after video of Portland guard CJ McCollum and Anthony playing pickup in New York was posted on Instagram earlier in the week:

"Portland is an interesting team in this because CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard have done a really good of recruiting Carmelo," Wojnarowkski told Russillo. "They’ve been on him. McCollum is in New York, you saw the video of [McCollum and Anthony] playing pickup. Selling [Anthony] on ‘Hey, look what our team could look like with you.’… but that’s incumbent ultimately on can Portland put a package together that appeals to New York?

"But if they could, then that’s a sleeper team in this to get Carmelo to waive his no-trade because I’m told they’ve piqued Carmelo’s interest at the very least."

Anthony holds career averages of 24.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game over his 15-year NBA career. Entering his eighth season as a Knick in 2017-18, Anthony has a full no-trade clause to essentially select which team he would like to play for next should he and New York part ways.

Listen to Russillo's full interview with Wojnarowski below, starting around the 25-minute mark HERE.

The key is being an attractive destination. If CP+Harden makes the team look like one capable of challenging GSW, things can happen. A number of past deals didn't become reality because the team wasn't quite viewed in the same light. There are still valuable trade pieces on the team: Capela in particular, Eric Gordon alsp. Morey is not just willing to give them up for Melo.

Melo may be one of the very few players with NTC, but there are others with leverage-- like an upcoming free agency-- on their current teams.

Are you suggesting that Melo and Rodman will be in the thrall of the NK???

Why is every pua bald? Lol.

With respect to him, he just doesnt look like a hipster town type of guy. He probably fits in a lot more in other places and he probably does meet more attractive women for him in other cities.

I can't see melo in Portland. That tiny backcourt will never win anything unless you add kawhi and draymond at the 3 and 4. If he doesn't come to Houston in think OKC would be the smarter move. He wouldn't have to play a lick of defense and they would still be an elite defensive team.

I love how all of the Portland articles always say:
"with Melo, Portland would be as good as any team in the West outside of Golden State."

What kind of accolade is that? Go to Portland and maybe be the best loser?

Naw. Come to Houston and bring some intrigue to the league. Get a puncher's chance of winning.

yea but we have the most strip clubs and it's because Houston is 4x the size of Portland. Of course we don't have strip clubs like in Katy since it's only for evacuations

This has been debunked in another thread.
Like the only take Houston City and not the surrounding area.

I can make the argument that both Eric Gordon and Clint Capela are better than CJ McCollum

Orlando was definitely a fun town when I was stationed there back in the early 80s. China Doll, etc. Also, in Winter Park near Orlando, Club Juana allowed full nudity :p

Yea I'm not too sure about that.... anyways melo wants to stay close to his. Houston is already far enough... so I would think the other side of the country might not be the best option. Oh and the whole fact that Portland barely made the playoffs last year, his best friend plays for Houston, etc, etc

I wouldn't be surprised if wade is in houston at the buyout time of year.

Only if we get melo though.

    If we have melo/cp3/harden.

Wade will be here when he gets bought out towards the end of the season.

I fully expect wade and Chicago to reach a buyout at the deadline. He's an expiring contract so they might save a little money even if it's only 200k.

Now if we don't get melo for some reason I could see melo joining Lebron in clevland for a playoff run.

But if we get melo and wade the focus is going to be huge about Lebron coming to houston this summer imo.

I think Wade will follow once Bron signs in the offseason. Wade will likely join Cleveland for the rest of the year, but if he comes straight here, then that futher cements Bron coming in 2018.
