My scientists are looking at this right now.

    Findings are being peer reviewed.

    More to come.

This post from Nook pretty much sums everything up.

I think when push comes to shove in SEPTEMBER right before training camp it will come down to NY deciding what they are going to do and if they want to have Melo in training camp, or have a clean slate.

Until then there is NO URGENCY and thus the Knicks will wait (and hope) that a better offer materializes. It won't come from the Rockets. If anything changes, it would be a 3rd team.

Agreed. Offer as stands won't do it. Will need to be more draft picks and offer from third team to make it work.

Doesn't change the fact that trading Melo and getting back a longer worst contract is not the better option. How do you not get that? Wow.
"People are thinking we're doing Melo wrong, so lets FIX this by making a horrible trade for our future. Its necessary to repair our image, especially to clutchfan users!"

I respect your outlook. At least you're not attacking someone who believes otherwise.
    I 100% think you're wrong though! :) ...... but I hope you're right.

I am more than willing to bet a healthy sum of money to contribute to Clutchfans on whether he comes or not before the season starts (how do you donate to the site by the way, I think I tried one time and either was too complicated or couldn't figure it out) ... and by healthy I do not mean something ridiculous.

The offer as it stands now MAY do it. It just won't do it "NOW." What I was saying is that "when push comes to shove", when there is urgency via the start of training camp, we'll see where NY stands.

I really hope your right. I just have no faith in Knicks front office being competent.

I'm done with this. I expect Ryan Anderson to be playing for the Rockets next year, and Melo to be elsewhere. That's fine with me. If the Knicks want to change that situation, they can let us know.

Won't happen. It's just a bluff to try to get more value for him. Why would you want a player who doesn't want to play for you? You would be better off cutting him and having nothing in return.

Something tells me Morey said the same thing to the Knicks...

The whole June "summertime, ppl get horny" suitor turning annoyed with melodrama and pauses then turning the table as the content, at-peace August vacationer playing the whole "if things change in September, let me know" angle.

I kind of feel it's overhyped that Anderson's contract is that bad. He's an elite level stretch 4, maybe the best in the league. How is his contract worse for the Knicks than Melo's? The no trade clause severely limits the value of Melo's contract.

Yes, Anderson's is longer but also, as the years go by, assuming he doesn't have some major injury that limits his abilities, the contract's value increases over time just due to inflating contract sizes. And I doubt some injury will severely limit what Anderson does on the court any time soon. Actually, that's more likely to happen to Melo.

I'm not saying we're better off with Anderson over Melo either. We clearly are aiming to win it all. To do so takes an enormous amount of talent and luck.

Reading about how New York wants Porzingis to move to the 5 has me wondering, how the hell Anderson doesn't fit with what they want to do. Porzingis and Anderson surrounded by some young shooters and slashers sounds like exactly what they need to generate some excitement and good will towards their fans.

To me, this screams sour grapes that the Houston Rockets would, in turn, have a big 3 more than actual true valuation of contracts at hand.

I'm thinking about starting a new Melo thread soon. Gonna title it something like "Melo still wants Houston, but Knicks may hold onto him".

    What do you guys think?

It is going to come down to James Dolan. He will make the decision like he always does.

You think new Knicks GM will be involved at all, perhaps when Dolan meets Perry for the first time.

As long as the rockets don't cave and give the Knicks more I'm happy with the situation. Anthony isn't worth giving up key rotational players at this point in his his career. NY knows that which is why they don't see a future with him, I just hope our star obsession doesn't lead us down being ****ed over. We had the strongest bench arguably last yr, with Lou/Bev gone we did get weaker from a bench stand point

Hopefully not. We don't need to give up too much more. If we can get Melo with only giving up Anderson we are good with the bench we have adding Tucker and Mah... Bobby Brown can fill in and still got Nene to help EG too. Granted Harden was a no show in game 6 against the Spurs it also exposes Harden was still THAT crucial with a so called best possible bench in the league last year.
